About the Role

We are seeking a highly capable Finance Controller for the CEER Unit (Central, Eastern Europe and Russia / CEERU) to lead, manage, and oversee all financial operations across the region. This is a senior role with full ownership of financials, governance, statutory compliance, commercial support, and finance leadership within CEERU.

The Finance Controller acts as a key strategic partner to the CEER leadership, ensuring robust financial management, accurate reporting, operational excellence, and alignment with Group standards. The role also includes managing and developing a team of finance professionals across the region and collaborating with shared‑service functions.

This position is essential to maintaining a strong internal control environment, driving performance improvement, and supporting CEERU’s growth and transformation agenda.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Leadership & Governance

Lead all finance and accounting operations for CEERU.

Ensure full compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, Group Accounting Policies, statutory requirements, tax filings, and audit processes.

2. Financial Performance & Reporting

Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly and annual results including P&L, Balance Sheet, Working Capital, Cash Flow.

Drive cost optimisation, cash‑generation programmes and performance‑improvement initiatives.

Produce high‑quality financial analysis, insights, and commentary for senior finance leadership.

3. Business Partnering & Commercial Support

Partner with CEER Leadership Teams, Country Managers, and functional heads.

Review contracts and commercial proposals; advise on financial implications.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and Mid‑Term Plans for the entire CEERU portfolio.

4. Control & Risk Management

Maintain a strong internal control framework across CEER entities.

Ensure all processes and financial judgements adhere to BT accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and best‑practice governance.

Oversee risk management, tax compliance, and statutory health of all CEERU legal entities.

5. People Leadership

Lead, coach, and develop a team of finance professionals within CEERU.

Promote collaboration with GFSS and strengthen end‑to‑end finance delivery.

Foster continuous improvement and high‑performing team culture.

6. Transformation & Projects

Support regional and Group transformation initiatives (finance simplification, system/process optimisation).

Lead or contribute to cross‑border projects, integrations, carve‑outs or reorganisations within CEERU.

Skills & Experience Required

Technical Skills

Strong foundation in IFRS, local GAAP, statutory accounting, and tax compliance.

Experience leading financial reporting, audit coordination, and commercial finance processes.

Strong analytical capability and understanding of performance drivers.

Professional Experience

6+ years in senior finance roles (controllership, audit, FP&A, business partnering).

Experience in multinational environments; telecom/tech sector background is advantageous.

Leadership & Soft Skills

Strong stakeholder management across countries and functions.

Excellent communication and presentation skills with senior leaders and boards.

Ability to influence, challenge, and support decision‑making.

Proven capability to lead teams, develop talent, and build a high‑performance culture
