The UK Mobile market continues to intensify, with competitive pressure, changing customer behaviours and regulatory change all shaping how value is driven from our existing customer base. For EE, sustaining market leadership increasingly depends on how effectively we retain, upgrade and maximise value from existing customers, while protecting churn and delivering a strong customer experience.

As our Commercial Trading Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading complex trading decisions that support base performance and broader P&L outcomes, playing a pivotal role in shaping and delivering EE’s Pay Monthly Mobile trading outcomes from our mobile base.

Sitting within EE’s Marketing & Commercial function, this role combines commercial ownership, strategic insight and execution leadership. You’ll combine commercial judgement, analytical rigour, and clear stakeholder communication to identify opportunities, evaluate risks, and turn insight into action across a matrixed business environment.

You’ll drive the end‑to‑end performance against our plans for the Mobile base, spanning handset upgrades, SIM-only upgrades, churn management and mitigation and value optimisation, ensuring delivery of volume, value and customer KPIs .

You’ll line manage a team of 3 commercial professionals and specialists so we’ll be looking to you for your people leadership, you will set clear trading priorities, and work cross‑functionally with Marketing, Reporting and Insights, Finance, Product, Partnerships, Pricing and Portfolio, Base, Channels and the wider central Trading teams to define initiatives, optimise investment and ensure flawless execution across systems and channels.

What you’ll be doing

You'll lead and embed a holistic, performance-led approach to Mobile base trading, with accountability for:

  • End-to-end performance ownership for Mobile base trading, including handset upgrades, SIM-only upgrades, churn and value optimisation
  • Defining and driving the quarterly and in‑quarter base trading strategy, aligning upgrade, retention and value levers to deliver the Mobile P&L
  • Translating performance insight into clear commercial recommendations, intervention strategies and trading actions
  • Leading the development and execution of base-focused trading initiatives, from concept through to business case approval and launch
  • Providing senior-level performance narrative and insight into weekly trading forums, commercial boards and leadership updates
  • Building high-impact partnerships across Retail, Digital, Contact Centres and Campaigns to optimise channel execution and frontline delivery
  • Developing the capability, performance and engagement of your team, setting clear standards for insight, execution and commercial impact

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Solid experience in a commercial trading, P&L, pricing, portfolio, or related commercial trading management role with proven ability to own commercial outcomes and translate performance insight into value-driving actions.
  • Strong understanding of customer base management, base trading dynamics, upgrades, churn and value levers within a consumer environment, with the ability to balance multiple commercial levers and performance indicators.
  • Experience within telecommunications, particularly in environments involving subscription-based customer dynamics within Mobile including handset upgrades, SIM-only upgrades.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Demonstrated analytical capability, including confidence working with performance trends, financial measures, and complex business drivers to interpret complex data, build forecasts, and use insight to influence senior decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence across senior and cross-functional teams driving alignment and momentum.
  • Leadership & people management experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams
  • Execution focus – track record of delivering initiatives through complex organisations with pace and discipline
  • Communication & storytelling – able to clearly articulate performance, risks and recommendations to Director and MD-level audiences
  • Adaptability & resilience – comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly competitive trading environment
