Commercial Finance Analyst

If so, you could be a great fit as our Commercial Finance Analyst, based in either London, Manchester, Ipswich or Bristol.

As a Commercial Finance Analyst reporting to the UK Core Finance Business Partner, you’ll be the trusted commercial finance analyst to the operational teams of four contracts within BT Business Finance. The contracts you’ll be supporting have annual revenues of approximately £26m.

This role is a key part of our EBITDA challenge in one of BT Group’s most exciting growth areas. Your responsibilities will include providing financial analysis on project, bid, and contract profitability to boost the performance of the unit, and supporting all commercial aspects – from pricing for new custom business, developing product pricing, to supporting business case preparation.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance. The individual will also need to work from one of the GSS-specific offices an average of 2-3 days per week.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Business Partnering – Business partner for a number of contracts, customers or frameworks within GSS – owns end-to-end P&L for their respective units of the business. Management of the contract budget and forecasts. Ensuring robust cost forecasting and controls, including management of contract financial risks and growth opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Management – Owning the day-to-day financial relationship with the customer, contract management and sales ranging from billing processes, including calculation of invoices and provision of customers back-up spreadsheets.
  • Month end & reporting – Responsible for the consolidation and reporting of the contract accounts and balance sheet. Regularly monthly tracking of performance (using key indicators) and early flagging of performance variance on bids. Is aware of and is flagging any prospective underperformance at earliest opportunity.
  • Financial Planning – Management of the contract budget and forecasts. Ensuring robust cost forecasting and controls, including management of contract financial risks and growth opportunities.
  • Commercial Finance – Supports Commercial Finance activity for GSS, performing pricing analysis for bids, products and new business. Tracks Commercial activity to identify policy impact, assess business trends and forecast performance.
  • Cost Transformation - Supports EBITDA/Cost Transformation. Takes proactive ownership of EBITDA improvement projects and works with the wider business to achieve beneficial results.

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Solving: Ability to interpret and resolve complex problems
  • Data Manipulation: Ability to use and convey data into useful management information in a quick but accurate way.
  • Communication: Ability to convey the financial story in a simple business manner, tailored to the audience
  • Eye for detail: ability to identify key trends and analyse information.
  • Time Management: Able to manage a demanding workload using strong organisation and time management skills.
  • Technical Accounting Expertise: Knowledgeable in accounting standards and contract accounting experience is preferable.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to manage and influence stakeholders within and across teams, driving accountability and ownership, in order to complete key objectives.
  • Professional qualification: part qualified or qualified (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent qualification)
