Business – Network Engineer Apprentice Level 4

Location - Chippenham

What you’ll be doing

Our Networks Technicians play a key role in looking after our bespoke communications networks for some of our clients that help keep our country safe. You’ll be helping to manage the support and development of global and highly complex voice and data platforms solutions, following the ITIL service operations model. We can’t tell you too much more about what it is you’ll be doing, as a lot of the work we do is highly sensitive and secure, but – in our opinion at least – it’s really exciting.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Your day-to-day work can range from troubleshooting network faults to completing customer and internal work orders, to system administration, project support and migration support. You’ll also carry out tasks to help install and commission various types of new equipment and technologies within our various bespoke platforms.

Contribute to:

Network troubleshooting (diagnosing and resolving network faults)

System administration (managing and maintaining systems)

Voice and data platform support (global and complex solutions)

ITIL service operations (knowledge of ITIL framework)

Installation and commissioning of equipment (hardware and technology setup)

Remote diagnostics (using cutting-edge tools to support platforms)

Migration support (assisting with system or network migrations)

As a Networks Engineer Apprentice, you’ll study for a Level 4 Network Engineer Apprenticeship. (completion is required to retain the role).

An eye for detail - to help build quality into everything we do

Application of best practice techniques as well as tailoring approaches to project needs

Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Willingness to learn, adapt, and embrace new challenges.

Security awareness (handling sensitive and secure work).

Due to the sensitive nature of the work, you must undergo personnel screening and obtain Government Security Clearance to SC level.

Duration of the programme – 30 months

Entry Requirements

5 GCSE’s at grade 4-9 Including Maths and English or SCQF 5

2 A-Levels grade CC or above

Internal candidates will have to take on Terms & Conditions of the Apprentice role including salary and benefits.
