Location: your contractual base location can be one of our strategic hubs in Birmingham, Bristol or London

Enhanced Security Clearance: due to the nature of the role, you'll be required to undergo NPPV3 Police Vetting and Security Check (SC) level clearance

The Major Government team within BT Corporate & Public Sector looks after the largest public sector customers including central government departments, the defence sector, nuclear establishments, and police forces. We are expanding our IT Product Sales plans and have a significant opportunity to grow our success in this area.



We are looking for a Business Development Manager who can drive value from our partners and distributors, developing incremental wins through sales enablement and vendor solutions focus within the BT Government team. You’ll leverage the extensive relationships BT has with multiple OEMs and several established IT distributors, with responsibility to generate incremental pipeline and sales.



The IT Products Business Development Manager is a results driven sales overlay resource focussed on delivering successful sales for OEM IT hardware and software from a range of BT’s partners.

What you’ll be doing

  • Maintaining, expanding, and building engagement of vendors and partners, managing these engagements to drive sales and margin growth.
  • Providing commercial oversight on key deals for IT products to maximise BT’s chances of success, guiding on the pricing strategy.
  • Understanding and promoting all relevant vendor programs, promotions and rebate mechanisms to maximise sales opportunities
  • Owning the execution of the IT products sales plan for BT Government sector against defined milestones and metrics.
  • Understanding detailed commercial modelling and trading route reviews to help shape the IT sales strategy into BT’s government customers.
  • Promoting awareness of the optimum vendor choices and routes to sell IT products.

What we want to see from you

  • Sales or business development experience within the IT industry.
  • Proven experience delivering incremental business in the IT sector, either through a reseller, channel partner, distributor, or an OEM.
  • Strong knowledge of the IT market, and a good understanding of the added value that a distributor provides to the channel.
  • Knowledge of IT channel management and distribution model.
  • Willing and able to undergo enhanced security clearance: NPPV3 Police Vetting and Security Check (SC) level clearance.
