Why this job matters
As an Account Manager in BT Wholesale, you'll take end-to-end ownership of a small portfolio of strategic customer accounts (typically 3–4). You'll be the voice of the customer internally, building strong relationships and leading a virtual team to deliver outcomes that grow and protect the account.
This is a high-visibility, fast-paced role where you'll manage P&L performance, risks and opportunities, and significant internal and external negotiations. You'll be confident engaging senior stakeholders and bringing people on the journey—supported by a highly collaborative, flat team structure with scope to shape how you run your accounts.
What you’ll be doing
- Own and grow a small portfolio of strategic wholesale customer accounts (typically 3–4), acting as the day-to-day lead and trusted commercial partner.
- Build strong senior stakeholder relationships across customer organisations and within BT, confidently presenting and influencing at MD and executive level when required.
- Take end-to-end accountability for account performance, including P&L ownership, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving agreed outcomes.
- Lead complex internal and external negotiations, aligning commercial and operational teams to deliver the right outcomes for the customer and BT.
- Act as the voice of the customer, translating customer needs internally and mobilising virtual teams across BT to deliver an excellent customer experience.
Experience Required
- Experience in account management within telecoms (or a closely related market), with a strong understanding of the market and products.
- Confidence working with large, strategic accounts and engaging credibly with senior stakeholders (including MD-level), both internally and externally.
- Commercial acumen, with experience owning the end-to-end account plan including P&L, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Proven negotiation skills and the ability to build and lead effective virtual teams across multiple internal stakeholders.
- Customer-first mindset with the drive and resilience to succeed in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
