Job Description
About Bradshaw
Bradshaw Advisory is a cross between a think tank, an economics and data consultancy, and a public affairs agency. We work on a variety of projects from leading high-impact policy commissions like the Inclusive Growth Commission, to supporting clients to access funding ranging from the Future Nuclear Enabling Fund to the Levelling Up Fund.
Our clients are often world leaders from a variety of industries, covering the built environment, tech and financial services. A diversity of work provides you and the team with plenty of development opportunities.
This is an exciting moment to join us as we continue to grow. We are a small firm with big ambitions, expanding year on year and creating new opportunities for our team along the way. We reject dull corporate structure, foster a startup mindset and run a flat structure - valuing ideas over hierarchy. We’re a true meritocracy: contributions are recognised and rewarded quickly, and progression is based on impact, not time served.
We all work a 4-day week to enjoy a 3-day weekend so our people can have a healthy work-life balance. All colleagues get a generous annual leave allowance and bank holidays can be flexed.
Our offer
- £75,000 to £110,000 Full Time Equivalent (FTE). £60,000 to £88,000 for 4 days per week (we all work Mon-Thurs). The offer is dependent on experience and performance during the hiring process - those with a strong history of winning work may be towards the top end. We are also open to hiring an Associate Director who has sold some work, is full of potential, and has their eye on promotion to Director after joining us
- Regular, timely pay reviews based on merit, with the first potential for a pay rise upon passing your probation
- Uncapped sales bonus of 10% above 125% of your pro-rated gross salary. And a separate company-wide bonus if we hit our revenue targets
- Options allocated via our Enterprise Management Incentive (EMI) scheme, giving you a stake in the company to benefit from our growth in the most tax-efficient manner
- 34 days FTE annual leave (27.2 pro-rated) plus (non-pro-rated) bank holidays-
- Generous learning and development budget (multiple thousands per year)
- Your choice of a high-spec Apple or Samsung laptop
- 5% employer pension contribution
- Very flexible work - choose the working pattern you prefer. Work from abroad when you like. Part-time options (e.g. 3 days per week, if you prefer)
- London (the Strand) and Manchester (Ancoats) offices to use as you wish
- Private health care for you and your family, and an employee assistance programme (EAP)
- Four away days per year, including abroad and 5* hotels
- Bonus week of holiday at 3 years and a paid 4-week mini-sabbatical at 5 years
- Enhanced paternity and maternity leave and pay
- Salary sacrifice options available
The role
As Director, Policy and Economics, you’ll:
- Generate your own leads and win new work
- Help others in the team win new work
- Lead, shape and grow our policy and economics practices
- Build relationships with senior clients across different industries
- Write and publish policy thinking to build both the Bradshaw and your personal brand
- Deliver client projects alongside a high-performing team. This will typically cover a wide range of quantitative and qualitative analyses
- Lead think-tank style report development and delivery
- Lead from the front and be prepared to ‘muck in’ across the business
What we are looking for
- Proven ability to win new business
- An empathetic leader
- Well networked and can build new relationships with a variety of people
- A curious lifelong learner with a good sense of humour
- An exceptional policy writer using economics and data to strengthen the argument
