Job Description

At EY, you’ll have the chance to build a career as unique as you are, with the global scale, support, inclusive culture and technology to become the best version of you. And we’re counting on your unique voice and perspective to help EY become even better, too. Join us and build an exceptional experience for yourself, and a better working world for all

About EY Tax

EY Tax is a market leader, renowned for delivering sustainable growth and empowering our people to shape their own careers. Our diverse, collaborative team advises on high-profile transactions, combining technical expertise, innovation and a genuine focus on continuous development. Join us to work on challenging, multi-country projects in a supportive, dynamic environment where your impact truly matters.

The Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Director to join our Private Client team, managing a diverse portfolio of clients with complex US and/or UK tax affairs. You’ll play a key role in delivering outstanding client service across compliance and advisory matters, developing junior team members, and supporting business growth through effective portfolio management.

The Team
Our US/UK Cross Border team advises international high-net-worth individuals, family offices, private equity and hedge fund principals, and high-profile professional partnerships. We provide a full range of tax services — from compliance and residence/domicile advice to transactions, wealth optimisation, and succession planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive business development opportunities through your network and collaboration with colleagues across EY’s service lines.
  • Manage the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and a practical, business-focused approach
  • Provide development support to junior team members through effective supervision, coaching, and mentoring
  • Contribute to people initiatives, including team retention, development, and training
  • Play a significant role in the management of the team — both strategically and operationally — while overseeing junior staff development and assignments

Skills and Attributes for Success
You’ll have:

  • Significant experience at a similar level within a professional practice.
  • Strong technical knowledge across a full range of client tax requirements, including signing off US/UK tax returns.
  • Proven experience advising non-domiciled individuals and high-net-worth clients.
  • Strategic and commercially aware, with excellent relationship management skills.
  • Confident negotiator who can articulate and sustain well-reasoned opinions.
  • Ability to influence and respectfully challenge when needed.
  • Skilled at leading, developing, and managing junior team members.
  • Supportive, collaborative, and committed to maintaining a positive team culture.
  • Proven ability to identify and convert opportunities into work.
  • Experienced in billing and managing financial performance.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage complex workstreams under pressure.
  • Effective time and project management skills to meet deadlines.

What we Offer

At EY, we’ll help you develop future-focused skills and gain world-class experiences. You’ll be empowered in a flexible environment and supported by a diverse, inclusive culture of globally connected teams that fuel your extraordinary talents.

  • Global Exposure: Work with international clients and teams across EY’s global network.
