Role Description

We have an exciting 12-month fixed term contract opportunity for a People Business Partner based in Canberra.

As a People Business Partner, you’ll be an advisor, culture‑shaper, and trusted coach — helping leaders embed our People Strategy across talent, workforce planning, succession, leadership, and everything that touches the employee experience.

Core Duties:

  • Embedding People strategy elements such as talent management, succession planning, workforce planning and leadership coaching providing high impact support and the implementation of solutions across the entire employee lifecycle
  • Operational Delivery: Providing a proactive business partnering service that meets Program workforce needs and strategic priorities
  • People Plan Delivery: Partner with leaders to align HR initiatives and strategy with Program workforce plans, as well as contributing to functional continuous improvement
  • Employee Engagement & Communication: Foster a collaborative, safe and positive culture, providing guidance, coaching leaders and support to teams on best people practice
  • Operational interface between the delivery business/function and the People Lead
  • Uses data and insights, human capital trends and people analytics to inform development of People solutions
  • Contributes to the development of the People Organisation’s strategy through the People Lead, and is responsible for supporting the deployment of this within their portfolio, ensuring strong alignment with the business/functional strategy, requirements and objectives
  • Works with stakeholders to support the development of a culture of teamwork and inclusive leadership in the relevant delivery business or functional area
  • Actings as a role model to drive a high performance and inclusive culture, and role models inclusive leadership that inspires and promotes BAE Systems Australia’s values and the core leadership behaviours
  • Contributing es to the development of an open, trusted environment, including motivating and holding the team accountable

About YOU

  • Demonstrated experience working in a HR Business Partner or Advisory role, within a large, matrix organisation where you have been responsible for the HR lifecycle
  • Proven team player with experience working with specialist HR functions and/or expertise
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage, coach and manage effective relationships with key stakeholders across all levels of the business and remote teams
  • Experience in managing multiple business and functional priorities
  • Significant knowledge and application of HR policies, processes and practices
  • Preferably HR Degree qualified
  • Significant knowledge of HR policies, processes (e.g., workforce planning and talent management), and talent management practices
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance
