Role Description:

We are currently looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our team based in Osborne, SA or Melbourne, VIC to Join our Hunter Class Frigate Program.

As a Procurement Specialist you will be responsible for the establishment, placement and management of the appropriate contracting arrangements with capable suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business.

Core Duties:

  • Manage full end to end procurement process, from planning to contract execution and contract management
  • Aid the procurement elements of bids and tenders ensuring robust definition of requirements and commercial terms
  • Support the supplier evaluation process and support sourcing recommendations on behalf of the business
  • Support the development of robust supplier sourcing strategies for the business
  • Proactively manage the performance of suppliers to achieve the requirements of the contract from a schedule, cost and quality perspective, developing and embedding the relevant KPIs
  • Lead supplier negotiations and finalise Supplier Agreements and purchase orders in accordance with set procedures and Delegations Of Authority
  • Work with a wide range of internal stakeholders as the key point of contact for allocated scope

About You

  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field is desirable.
  • Defence industry experience would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement or supply chain
  • Familiarity and experience in the development and negotiation of contracts with key suppliers.
  • Ability to effectively manage stakeholder expectations and deliver on commitments.
  • Committed and dedicated to work on a significant national defence program

Hunter Class Frigate Program:

BAE Systems Australia is leading the largest ever surface ship project in Australia’s defence history – the design and build of Hunter class frigates.

The Hunter Class Frigate Program is transforming Australia’s shipbuilding industry by supporting the building of a world-class, continuous naval shipbuilding capability for our nation.

In 2018, the Australian Government selected our business to deliver these anti-submarine warfare (ASW) frigates for the Royal Australian Navy.

The program will create and sustain more than 5,000 jobs at BAE Systems Australia and the wider Australian defence supply chain over the life of the program, including up to 1,000 apprentice and graduate roles.
