Role Description:

The People Business Partner is responsible for supporting a defined portfolio for the AUKUS Program. This role is also responsible for contributing to the development of the People Plan which is derived from the relevant Delivery business or functional strategy, and for delivering on relevant people actions accordingly.

This role is also responsible for leading actions required to embed the enterprise People strategy and ensure positive employee experience.

Core Duties:

  • Embedding the People strategy elements such as talent management, succession planning, workforce planning and leadership coaching within their portfolio through providing high impact support and the implementation of solutions across the entire employee lifecycle.
  • Supporting the People Lead to ensure that the relevant delivery business or function strategies are understood across the remainder of the People function, in order to effectively execute and meet business objectives
  • Work with stakeholders in their portfolio to support the development of a culture of teamwork and inclusive leadership in the relevant Delivery business or functional area
  • Contribute to the development of the People organisation’s strategy through the People Lead, and is responsible for supporting the deployment of this within their portfolio, ensuring strong alignment with the business/functional strategy, requirements and objectives
  • Responsible for the execution of projects of work within their portfolio that are multifaceted and complex in nature, requiring high stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence an outcome that aligns to strategic direction
  • Effectively build relationships across the relevant delivery business/functional team as well as the broader People team, supporting the People Lead to act as the advocate for the relevant delivery area or function into the broader People team

Essential Skills:

  • Significant experience as an Human Resources Business Partner or comparable role(s)
  • Experience in managing multiple business and functional priorities
  • Experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with Business Unit(s) Managers and staff
  • Good stakeholder management skills, including building relationships and effectively influencing stakeholders within the relevant portfolio to deliver business outcomes whilst maintaining key relationships
  • Significant knowledge of HR policies, processes (e.g., workforce planning and talent management), and talent management practices

The AUKUS Team

In early 2024, the Australian Government selected BAE Systems and ASC Pty Ltd to build Australia’s new fleet of nuclear-powered submarines in a significant development in the AUKUS trilateral security pact between the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.
