Job Title: IM&T Solution Architect Assurance & Analysis

Location: Frimley, London, Leeds, Gloucester, Gt Baddow – hybrid

We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

What you’ll be doing

As a Solution Architect, you will support the design and assurance of solution architectures for core internal systems and contribute to the development of a pragmatic, risk-aware transition roadmap that moves the Digital Intelligence estate from its current state to the target architecture. You will assist in embedding cloud-infrastructure expertise covering public, private, and hybrid environments to ensure migration steps are technically sound, cost-effective, and aligned with BAE Systems standards. Working closely with senior architects and the Chief Enterprise Architect, you will help produce integration and data-flow diagrams, document technical constraints and risks, and prepare assurance evidence for Architecture Review Boards. You will collaborate with stakeholders to evolve early solutions, maintain compliance with architecture standards, and develop your skills in modelling techniques and governance practices turning complexity into clear, actionable designs that support a secure and resilient digital estate

Your skills and experiences

Essential:

  • Experience in technical analysis or solution design within IT environments, with exposure to system integration and architecture principles.
  • Understanding of architecture modelling techniques and ability to communicate designs visually.
  • Basic knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts (e.g., compute, storage, networking) and common integration patterns.
  • Proficiency with architecture modelling tools (such as Bizzdesign) or a strong willingness to learn and adopt these tools quickly.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and evidence-led approach, ensuring accuracy in documentation and compliance artefacts.
  • Ability to document technical constraints, risks, and dependencies clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency with AI Assisted tooling
  • Minimum SC clearance; DV may be required.

Desirable

  • Exposure to enterprise IT platforms, such as ServiceNow CMDB, API catalogues, and integration middleware.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, including data protection and risk management principles.
  • Familiarity with cloud provider tooling (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc) and Infrastructure-as-Code basics.
  • Professional certifications such as TOGAF Foundation, AWS/Azure/GCP Fundamentals, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience preparing assurance evidence for governance forums (e.g., Architecture Review Boards).
  • Understanding of business capability mapping and its role in solution architecture.
  • Awareness of agile delivery practices and how architecture supports iterative development.
