Job Description

Company Description

We're ASOS, the online retailer for fashion lovers all around the world.

We exist to give our customers the confidence to be whoever they want to be, and that goes for our people too. At ASOS, you're free to be your true self without judgement, and channel your creativity into a platform used by millions.

Everyone needs some help showing up as their best self. We're Disability Confident Committed - let our Talent team know if you need any reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process

Job Description

ASOS is embarking on an exciting digital transformation, evolving our Product team with a powerful new way of working that places our digital products at the heart of our business. We are seeking a talented Senior Product Designer to play a pivotal role in ensuring its success.

We currently receive over 2.5 billion visits per year, have more than 23 million active customers, and over 50 million unique visitors per month. This creates a highly committed and exciting environment with opportunities to develop best-in-class digital products.

As a Senior Product Designer working on our Android app, you’ll work across many of our product development areas. Our Android customers span a huge range of devices, screen sizes and markets, and designing well for them means designing for that reality. We operate in a fast-paced, rapidly changing product org, partnering with cross-functional teams to solve real customer problems through experimentation and data-driven decision-making, leveraging AI to shape how customers experience and shop for fashion online.

We're building an immersive, personalised, outfit-based shopping experience — one that makes discovery feel less like searching a traditional product grid and more like you're working with a personal stylist. We're designing our app to be one of the most exciting destinations to discover your next look, while shaping our digital product org to be a place where craft, speed, and new ways of working enable us to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Join us and be part of ASOS's digital revolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design of native Android experiences from discovery through to shipped, measured, and iterated product.
  • Bring deep Android platform craft: fluency in Material 3, dynamic colour and theming, gesture and predictive back navigation, edge-to-edge layouts, dark theme, notifications, widgets, and the Play Store surfaces that shape first impressions.
  • Design for the breadth of the Android ecosystem — multiple densities and screen sizes, adaptive layouts for tablets, large screens and foldables, and strong performance and perceived speed on mid- and lower-tier devices in every market we trade in.
  • Design and champion reusable patterns and components that scale across the Android app, knowing when to use the design system and when to push it forward. Partner with our iOS design counterpart to keep the ASOS experience coherent across platforms while respecting each platform's idioms — parity where it matters to customers, platform-native where it matters to quality.
  • Work closely with Android engineers in the language of the platform, translating design into Jetpack Compose-friendly structures, components and tokens so intent survives implementation.
  • Prototype early and often, in Figma, code, or AI-assisted tools, to make ideas tangible for your team and stakeholders faster than a deck ever could — including on-device, so motion and gesture are judged in the hand rather than on a screen share.
  • Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team including product managers, engineers, business partners and stakeholders, driving end-to-end delivery and being accountable for the performance and success of your initiatives.
  • Conduct and apply quantitative and qualitative research to validate design choices and keep decisions customer-led.
  • Use AI tools as part of your own practice, for exploration, prototyping, and production, and help the wider team build that fluency.
  • Champion the user and improve ASOS's accessibility standards in everything you ship, including TalkBack behaviour, focus order, touch target sizing and support for large font and display scaling.
  • Understand the technology, data, and business logic underpinning the experiences you design, and design with those constraints, not around them.
  • Communicate design decisions, trade-offs, and research findings clearly and early, and use that clarity to influence stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • You have significant experience designing and shipping native Android products, with a portfolio that shows real craft on the platform.
  • You know Material 3 well enough to know when to follow it, when to extend it, and when a strong brand expression should take precedence.
  • You're comfortable designing for fragmentation: adaptive layouts and large screens, varied hardware performance, and the accessibility settings real customers actually have switched on.
  • You work fluently with Android engineers, understand how Kotlin and Compose shape what's cheap and expensive to build, and use that knowledge to make better design decisions earlier.
  • You're a systems thinker — comfortable designing a single flow and the scalable pattern behind it, so the whole team moves faster because of your work.
  • You prototype to think and to sell ideas, and you'd rather show something working on a device than pitch a static deck.
  • You're AI-native in how you work: you use AI tools day-to-day in your own design process, and you're excited to design entirely new patterns for AI-driven experiences.
  • You have a strong track record in user research and experimentation, translating quantitative and qualitative insights into confident design decisions.
  • You're an expert in Figma and modern prototyping tools, fluent in building and evolving design system patterns across platforms.
  • You communicate with clarity and confidence, able to articulate design rationale and influence senior stakeholders.
  • You're adaptive, thrive in ambiguity, and bring a growth mindset to a fast-moving, product-led environment.
  • You care, visibly, about the customer and about shipping work that's both beautiful and effective.
