Job Description

APM Terminals

HSE Manager – APM Terminals MedPort Tangier (TM2)

At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be a part of our journey.

APM Terminals MedPort Tangier – TM2

Based at APM Terminals Tangier Med 2, this role supports a complex container-terminal operating environment. You will work closely with operational leaders, the Senior Management Team, employees, contractors, authorities, and regional and global HSSE colleagues to strengthen safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible operations.

What We Can Offer

At APM Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement means every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers by continuously refining how we work. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

•Gain broader exposure to terminal leadership, automated operations, major projects, and business-risk decisions.

•Develop your professional capability through coaching, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement.

•Contribute to regional and global HSSE activities and share learning across terminals when assigned.

•Build experience toward Head of HSSE or broader HSSE leadership roles, subject to performance and organizational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead, coach, and develop the HSE team by setting clear objectives, priorities, and performance expectations.

•Translate corporate and regional HSSE requirements into the TM2 HSE strategy, annual plan, objectives, and improvement roadmap.

•Own the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the site HSE management system, ensuring legal, regulatory, and APM Terminals requirements are embedded in local processes.

•Lead the identification of material HSE risks, definition of critical controls, and verification of control effectiveness across operations, projects, equipment modifications, procurement, and contractor activities.

•Ensure incidents, near misses, and high-potential events are reported, investigated, communicated, and converted into practical, sustainable organisational learning.

•Develop and execute a risk-based programme of audits, inspections, deep dives, and management reviews, providing transparent assurance and escalation to management.

•Strengthen HSE capability, worker participation, contractor compliance, environmental management, and emergency preparedness while managing assigned budgets, resources, suppliers, and services.

What We Are Looking For

•Continuous improvement mindset: We are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.

•Leadership expectation: We are looking for people who consistently put customers first, lead by example with respect for people, deliver results with integrity, and drive continuous improvement by solving problems at the root, developing people, and raising standards every day.

•Hold a Master’s degree in occupational health and safety, Engineering, Environmental Management, Risk Management, or a comparable discipline, together with a recognised HSE qualification such as NEBOSH or equivalent.

•Bring normally seven or more years of relevant HSE experience in a complex industrial, logistics, port, or terminal environment, including senior-level experience.

•Demonstrate experience leading professionals and cross-functional improvement, together with strong knowledge of HSE management systems, legal compliance, risk and critical controls, incident investigation, and assurance.

•Apply credible, practical, and independent judgement, supported by strong coaching, communication, influencing, negotiation, conflict-resolution, analytical, and systems-thinking skills.

•Work professionally in English. French and Arabic are valuable in the TM2 operating environment; experience in automated or container-terminal operations is an advantage.
