At Anglian Water, the reliability of our Bioresources operations depends on robust engineering standards, effective maintenance strategies and people with the right technical capabilities.

We are looking for an Engineering Standards & Governance Lead to provide engineering leadership across the maintenance standards, assurance and competency arrangements supporting our Bioresources assets.

You will establish a consistent and auditable engineering framework covering CHP, gas, SRP, sludge treatment and associated critical infrastructure. Working alongside engineers, technicians, operational teams and specialist partners, you will ensure our maintenance activities are safe, risk-based, technically robust and aligned with regulatory, process safety and operational requirements.

This is an influential opportunity for an experienced engineering, maintenance or asset-management professional who can combine technical credibility with strong governance, strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement.

What you’ll be doing

You will take ownership of the engineering maintenance standards that define how our critical Bioresources assets are maintained, assured and improved.

Using your engineering knowledge and judgement, you will translate technical requirements into practical standards, maintenance procedures and ways of working that can be applied consistently across our operations. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Own and develop engineering maintenance standards for Bioresources assets, including CHP, gas, SRP and sludge treatment.
• Apply engineering judgement and risk-based thinking to ensure standards are practical, technically robust and fit for purpose.
• Ensure maintenance standards meet OEM, statutory, regulatory and process safety requirements.
• Work with engineers, technical specialists and suppliers to embed standards into maintenance plans, procedures and asset-care activities.
• Provide technical governance and assurance, identifying engineering risks, variances and opportunities for improvement.
• Define and maintain engineering competency and authorisation requirements, ensuring work is undertaken by appropriately skilled people.
• Build resilience across specialist engineering skills, critical assets and out-of-hours maintenance capability.
• Help shape future engineering capability through new technology, digital and predictive maintenance, and continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring

• You will bring a strong engineering or maintenance skillset, together with the confidence to influence technical specialists, operational leaders and external partners. We are looking for:

• Engineering, maintenance or asset management experience within an industrial, utilities or process environment.

• Comfortable working across detailed engineering requirements and wider technical governance, ensuring that standards are not only well designed but practical, understood and consistently applied.

• Experience developing or governing engineering maintenance standards, strategies and technical documentation.

• Strong understanding of asset reliability, engineering risk, process safety and regulatory compliance.

• Ability to interpret technical and OEM requirements and translate them into clear, practical engineering standards.

• Experience of technical assurance, competency management and risk-based decision-making.

• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to provide technical challenge and drive consistent engineering standards.
