Make every drop of your potential count. Join our team, you’ll love it!

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Operational Resilience/Emergency Planning team as an Emergency Planner, reporting to the Emergency Planning Manager, and working alongside 3 other Emergency Planners.

This vital, busy & challenging role is ideal for someone who has emergency planning experience, thrives on having a large variety in their work, working in a planned way, but very quickly transitioning into a reactive response if we have an operational incident.

About the role

You will play a key part in the creation, maintenance and continuous improvement of our emergency response plans, processes and playbooks. This includes incident response processes, critical asset response plans, reasonable worst case scenario plans.

Along with organisation risk-based plans, we have two key legislations that direct us. The Security and Emergency Measures Direction (SEMD) and the Civil Contingencies Act, so this role provides a unique opportunity to understand how we transfer this legislation into our operating processes and response plans at both company and industry level

The team work with external agencies and regulators to plan for and respond to water industry and community risks and incidents, e.g. Defra, Water UK, DWI, LRF’s, so this gives a great opportunity to learn about broader community and national Emergency Planning, by working with these key stakeholders

We’d love someone to join us that can bring their emergency planning experience and a new view to our current processes, confident to suggest and lead on changes, as the team are always self-driven to continually develop and improve.

Benefits aligned to this role

Our people are important to us and we want to make sure that we reward and recognise all of the great work that they do. Your benefits will include:

  • Full private healthcare with no excess

  • 25 days leave, rising with service + Bank Holidays, with the option to swap Christmas and Easter holidays for those celebrated by your religion

  • A flexible working culture

  • Competitive pension scheme – we double-match your contributions up to 6% (18% total)

  • Life Assurance at eight times your salary

  • Personal Accident cover – up to 5x your salary

  • Bonus Scheme

  • Flexible benefits to support your wellbeing and lifestyle

  • Paid time off when you’re physically and mentally unwell

  • An excellent Family Leave package – to help you support your family

What does it take to be an Emergency Planner?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced emergency planner to join our team, that has:

  • Knowledge and practical experience of emergency planning

  • Flexibility to respond to changing priorities and incidents, with a requirement to work outside of normal working hours on occasions when supporting incidents

  • A confident and strong communicator

  • Ability to prioritise your own workload and make decisions in a pressurised environment

  • Adaptability to new and challenging situations and able to manage your own time

  • Confidence in presenting and communicating to key stakeholders, both within the organisation and externally

  • As you will be required to travel across the Anglian Region, you will need a driving licence, therefore the status of your driving licence will be checked

  • You will ideally be educated to NVQ Level 3 / HNC or equivalent
