What to ExpectAs a DevOps Architect / MLOps Architect, you will be pivotal in designing, implementing, and optimising our DevOps and MLOps strategies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline our software development processes, enhance automation, and drive organisational efficiency. Additionally, you will be responsible for architecting and maintaining a robust MLOps pipeline to support our machine learning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture Support

  • Collaborate with various teams as part of the architect group to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Provide architectural guidance and expertise to ensure solutions align with best practices and organisational goals.

Hands-On Engagement:

  • Lead by example, demonstrating technical proficiency and contributing directly to team project deliverables as needed.

Line Management and Coaching:

  • Manage a group of embedded DevOps engineers across teams, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance management to foster professional growth and development.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team

Driving Quality and Standards:

  • Work with the architect group to identify opportunities to improve quality and work with teams to effect change.
  • Promote quality assurance practices and tools to ensure deployed solutions' reliability, security, and performance.

Scaling ML Services:

  • Help carve a path forward for deploying and operating ML services/workloads at scale.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements and best practices in machine learning infrastructure, particularly within the AWS ecosystem.

Cost Management:

  • Help teams track and manage cloud spending against budgetary constraints.
  • Implement cost-effective solutions and strategies to optimise resource utilisation and expenses on AWS.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Deep understanding of a wide range of AWS services, their applications and constraints.
  • Infrastructure as code (IaC) using CDK/TypeScript/CloudFormation.
  • CI/CD experience (GitHub actions).
  • Networking principles and design patterns.
  • Security best practices.
  • Knowledge of observability tooling and patterns.
  • High availability system design with SLAs/SLOs.
  • Modern infrastructure design patterns, e.g. Serverless computing, Containerization, Gateways.
  • Understanding of NoSQL databases, e.g. DynamoDB/MongoDB/Cassandra.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a DevOps Engineer.
  • 5+ years of experience working with AWS & Cloud.
  • Experience working in a SaaS business is a plus.
