  • Experience designing modular applications, concurrency, networking, and data management.
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code or Cursor.

Job description

At Veygo, we’re making insurance feel effortless and helping young drivers become safer and more confident on the road. You’ll help build the iOS experiences that make that possible.

Working in our Growth team, you’ll create intuitive, reliable mobile journeys that help more customers discover and choose Veygo. You’ll work closely with Product, Design, Data and Backend Engineering to understand customer problems, shape solutions and own significant features from discovery through to production.

You’ll also help shape how we build software. AI native and agentic engineering are central to our approach, using coding agents and intelligent workflows to accelerate development, improve quality and give engineers more room to solve meaningful problems.

Why this role matters

Our ambition is to make Veygo the easiest and best choice for young drivers. Our iOS app is a core part of that ambition, helping customers find the right cover, buy with confidence and stay engaged through useful insights, rewards and services.

You’ll help us learn faster through experimentation, improve acquisition and conversion, and build a mobile platform that can evolve with our customers’ needs. Alongside hands-on engineering, you’ll influence technical direction, support other engineers and raise the standard of iOS engineering across Veygo.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Design, build and maintain native iOS experiences using Swift, SwiftUI and modern iOS frameworks, taking ownership from discovery through testing, release and ongoing improvement.
  • Lead the architecture and delivery of complex features across data modelling, networking, caching, offline behaviour and synchronisation.
  • Partner with Product, Design and Data to improve acquisition, quote to sale conversion and engagement, using analytics, experimentation and customer feedback to measure impact.
  • Work with Backend Engineering and QA to shape APIs, identify risks early and deliver seamless customer journeys.
  • Make pragmatic technical decisions that balance performance, scalability, maintainability and delivery speed, improving reliability, observability and automated testing.
  • Embed AI coding agents into everyday engineering, exploring opportunities across prototyping, development, testing, code review and troubleshooting while validating changes for security, reliability and maintainability.
  • Mentor engineers through pairing, constructive code reviews and technical discussions, sharing effective practices and improving tooling, release cadence and developer experience.

What you’ll bring

  • Significant experience building native iOS applications, including senior-level ownership in a fast moving, consumer focused business.

  • A track record of delivering and scaling iOS applications with a large user base.
  • Strong proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI, familiarity with UIKit, and a deep understanding of iOS frameworks and APIs.
  • Experience designing complex, modular mobile applications, with sound judgement about architecture, concurrency, networking and data management.
  • Strong experience with automated testing, CI/CD and frequent releases through TestFlight and the App Store.
  • Practical experience using AI assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or similar, with the ability to evaluate their outputs and apply appropriate checks.
  • Strong debugging and performance optimisation skills, with a commitment to clean, testable and maintainable code.
  • Clear communication and a customer focused approach, with the confidence to challenge assumptions, influence decisions across disciplines and support other engineers.
  • Our technology includes Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, TCA and Swift concurrency. We use CircleCI, TestFlight and the App Store for delivery; automated unit, UI and snapshot testing alongside BrowserStack for device coverage; and New Relic and Firebase Crashlytics for observability. Why Veygo?

At Veygo, we’re here to unlock independence.

For young drivers, getting on the road is a massive life moment: freedom, confidence, responsibility and finally not needing a lift everywhere. For parents, it’s a big moment too: letting go, while knowing their child is protected and supported.

We make insurance the easy bit.

Since launching in 2016, we’ve helped more than one million customers and sold over eight million policies. Now, we’re evolving from short-term cover into a brand that supports young drivers through their first years on the road, helping them build safer habits, manage costs and move forward with confidence.

Backed by Admiral Group, we combine the freedom to experiment with the strength, trust and expertise of one of the UK’s leading insurers. You’ll have ownership of your work and the opportunity to build products that reach millions.

    What you’ll get in return

Alongside a competitive salary, you’ll receive:

    • A generous share scheme, giving you the opportunity to become a shareholder and share in Admiral’s success.
    • 33 days’ holiday, including bank holidays, increasing with service, plus the option to buy or sell up to five additional days.
    • Ongoing learning and development, leadership programmes and career opportunities across Admiral Group.
    • Flexible hybrid working, with most colleagues spending one or two days a week in our Central Cardiff office.
    • A supportive culture recognised as a Great Place to Work for more than 25 years, including awards for Wellbeing and Women.

Explore our full benefits package, including wellbeing support, healthcare, family-friendly policies and financial benefits.

    Disability Confident Leader

As a Disability Confident Leader, for candidates with a disability or long-term health condition who opt into the Disability Confident scheme, we’ll invite a fair and proportionate number of applicants who meet the essential requirements of the role to the first stage of our selection process.

If you need any adjustments or support with your application or during the recruitment process, please email Daniel.Cavill@admiralgroup.co.uk.
