We know people's lifestyles are changing and our pay-as-you-go insurance provides our customers with flexible cover by the hour, day or week, so they can get cover when they need it, and not when they don’t. The Role
As a Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a cross-functional engineering team delivering customer-facing products and core platform capabilities. Our teams move quickly, experiment often, and use technology and data to solve real customer problems.
You’ll balance people leadership, technical decision-making, and delivery oversight, ensuring teams ship high-quality, scalable solutions while continuously improving how they work. You’ll support and develop engineers to do their best work, building a high-performing, collaborative team environment.
As we grow our engineering organisation and continue to evolve our platform capabilities and customer experience, you’ll play a key role in shaping how engineering operates at Veygo, contributing to team structure, delivery models, and a strong, forward-looking engineering culture.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading, coaching, and developing a team of engineers through regular feedback, mentoring, and structured career development, helping individuals grow and perform at their best
- Creating an inclusive, high-performing team culture that promotes ownership, accountability, psychological safety, and continuous learning
- Partnering closely with Product and Design to deliver high-impact features and meaningful improvements that solve real customer problems
- Enabling teams to deliver at pace without compromising on quality, reliability, or scalability, balancing speed with strong engineering standards
- Collaborating with other engineering leaders to continuously improve engineering practices, systems, processes, and overall team effectiveness
- Proactively identifying delivery risks and dependencies, removing blockers early to keep teams moving and deliveries on track
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience
- Proven experience managing software engineering teams, within a startup or scale-up environment, with an understanding of the pace, ambiguity, and challenges that come with scaling technology and teams.
- Demonstrated ability to build high-performing, collaborative engineering teams, fostering strong team dynamics and a culture of trust, ownership, and accountability.
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving environments, able to adapt to evolving priorities and make effective decisions with incomplete information.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and build effective relationships across the business.
- A genuine passion for coaching and developing engineers, supporting individuals at different stages of their careers to grow and succeed.
- A pragmatic decision-maker, able to balance speed, quality, and technical production to deliver the best outcomes for both customers and the business.
