Medical Communications Senior Account Manager
Job Description
Job title: Medical Communications Senior Account Manager
Location: London
Career Level: 10
Accenture Song accelerates growth and value for our clients through sustained customer relevance. Our capabilities span ideation to execution: growth, product and experience design; technology and experience platforms; creative, media and marketing strategy; and campaign, content and channel orchestration. With strong client relationships and deep industry expertise, we help our clients operate at the speed of life through the unlimited potential of imagination, technology and intelligence.
As a team:
Song Life are a community of scientists, strategists, creatives, technologists and problem-solvers united by a shared ambition: to improve healthcare through better communication, engagement and experiences.
What makes Song Life unique is the opportunity to work across the entire healthcare ecosystem. We don’t operate in silos. Our medical experts collaborate with creatives, experience designers, AI specialists, digital practitioners and marketing strategists to solve complex client challenges in ways that would not be possible within a traditional agency model.
We are naturally curious, relentlessly collaborative and always learning. We challenge each other to think bigger, innovate faster and bring fresh perspectives to every brief. Together, we create work that not only informs and educates but also changes behaviours, strengthens relationships and ultimately improves outcomes for patients.
Joining Song Life means joining a team that values expertise, embraces innovation and believes the best ideas emerge when different disciplines work as one. Here, you’ll have the freedom to grow your career, explore new areas of healthcare and contribute to work that makes a genuine difference.
In our team you will learn:
- How to evolve from programme delivery into strategic client leadership.
- How to identify growth opportunities by connecting client ambitions with the full breadth of Song Life capabilities.
- How to lead multidisciplinary teams through increasingly complex healthcare challenges.
- How to balance commercial performance with exceptional client experience.
- How to influence senior stakeholders and become a trusted advisor rather than simply a delivery lead.
- How to shape integrated programmes that connect medical communications, engagement, digital, creative and experience design capabilities.
- How to develop and mentor future talent while building high-performing teams.
As a Senior Account Manager you will:
- Build long-term, trusted partnerships with clients, becoming a valued adviser who understands their priorities, challenges and evolving business needs.
- Take ownership of strategic account planning and programme delivery, ensuring work not only meets expectations but creates meaningful impact for clients and their audiences.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across medical, strategy, digital and engagement disciplines, bringing together the right expertise to solve complex healthcare challenges.
- Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen programmes, improve outcomes and create additional value.
- Drive account growth through innovative thinking, commercial awareness and the ability to connect clients with wider Song Life capabilities and expertise.
- Act as the connective tissue between clients and delivery teams, ensuring strategic intent, operational excellence and exceptional client experience remain aligned.
- Guide teams through complexity, helping to prioritise effectively, navigate ambiguity and deliver with confidence.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement, creating an environment where people can grow and perform at their best.
- Use insight, data and audience understanding to shape integrated engagement programmes that deliver measurable results.
- Lead important client discussions, presentations and reviews, representing Song Life with confidence, credibility and professionalism.
- Support the development of junior colleagues through coaching, mentoring and sharing best practice.
- Contribute to business development activities, helping to shape proposals, identify opportunities and demonstrate the value of our integrated approach.
We are looking for experience in the following skills:
- Significant healthcare agency experience, particularly within pharmaceutical regulations, compliance frameworks and industry codes of practice.
- Building, growing and sustaining strong client relationships across multiple levels of an organisation.
- Leading complex programmes involving multiple stakeholders, workstreams and delivery partners.
- Working across multidisciplinary teams and bringing together diverse expertise to create integrated solutions.
- Strong commercial awareness, including budget ownership, forecasting, profitability management and scope development.
- Strategic account management and programme planning.
- Exceptional communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Identifying opportunities for organic growth and translating them into meaningful client value.
- Navigating ambiguity and solving problems in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- Balancing strategic thinking with operational excellence.
- Developing and mentoring junior team members.
- A passion for healthcare and a curiosity about how science, creativity, technology and experience can be combined to deliver better outcomes.
Set yourself apart:
- You are naturally curious and seek to understand not only what clients need today, but what they will need tomorrow.
- You are a relationship builder who develops trust quickly and brings people together around a shared vision.
- You are as comfortable discussing strategic objectives with senior stakeholders as you are guiding a team through programme delivery.
- You combine commercial awareness with a genuine commitment to delivering meaningful impact for patients, healthcare professionals and clients.
- You thrive in complexity, bringing clarity, focus and momentum when navigating competing priorities.
- You see opportunities where others see challenges and are energised by finding innovative ways to solve problems.
- You enjoy working beyond traditional role boundaries, collaborating across medical, strategy, creative, experience and technology teams.
- You create confidence in those around you through calm leadership, sound judgement and a collaborative mindset.
- You understand not just how to deliver great work, but how to grow partnerships, inspire teams and create long-term value.
- You are excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of healthcare engagement through the combined power of science, creativity and technology.
What’s in it for you:
Our Total Rewards consist of a competitive basic salary, annual performance bonus, opportunities to acquire equity and a wide range of health and wellbeing benefits. These include perks such as:
- 25 days of leave to spend each year plus 3 extra volunteering days per year for charitable work of choice.
- Family-friendly and flexible work policies.
- Attractive pension plan with financial wellbeing support and resources.
- Private healthcare insurance plan and Mental Wellbeing support.
- Employee Assistance Programme, Career Development and Counselling.
- A range of generous Parental Leave offerings.
Flexibility and mobility are required to deliver this role as there will be requirements to spend time onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery of the outstanding services we are known for.
Please note that with all our roles, you should expect some in-person time for collaboration, learning and building rapport with clients, peers, leaders and communities. As an employer, we will be as flexible as possible to support your specific work/life needs.
