Location Independent Worker

As a Location Independent Worker, for operational reasons you may be required to perform your duties, either temporarily or permanently, from any of our offices or customer sites within a reasonable geographic area of your home address. Our “Office in a Box” home working kit will provide you with everything you need, no matter where you are.

Who We Are

We’re here to build a network the UK can count on – one that connects people, places and potential. Because no matter where you live, what your background is, or how you get online – we think everyone deserves the same chance to stay connected, and with VodafoneThree, that future’s being built – today.

We’re creating more than the UK’s best network. We’re helping close the digital divide, empower communities and drive meaningful progress.

We believe that everyone should feel they belong. Whoever you are and whatever your story, there’s space for you here. We’re building a workplace where different perspectives are welcomed, voices are heard, and everyone feels safe to show up as themselves.

You’ll join a team that genuinely cares – about each other, about our customers, and about the future we’re building. From day one, you’ll be welcomed, valued and encouraged to bring your whole self to work.

Why VodafoneThree

Join us and you’ll be at the heart of change. That means building responsibly, investing sustainably and creating opportunities that last.

We’re not just expanding connectivity; we’re reimagining what a connected nation looks like. With £11bn invested in 5G and digital infrastructure, your work will directly power businesses, services, and communities across the country.

You’ll work on real challenges, with real impact, across every corner of the country. Wherever you join us, whatever your role, you’ll be helping to build a future that works better for everyone.

We move at pace, because what we’re building matters – and we’re learning as we go. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, but we’re just getting started.

Join our UK Networks team, where we’re continually building and enhancing our network, connecting millions of people and businesses across the country. Be part of the team that makes it all happen – simplifying, automating, and bringing better connectivity than ever before, with giga-fast speed, to our customers.

What you’ll do

As our Health & Safety Lead, you'll be a visible and trusted presence across the estate, supporting build, upgrade and decommissioning activities while helping create an environment where people feel confident to collaborate, share ideas, raise concerns and continuously improve. You'll help ensure that safety, quality and compliance remain at the heart of every decision, while contributing to a culture that values teamwork, learning, accountability and care.

In this role, you'll work closely with regional delivery teams, suppliers, contractors and central Health & Safety functions to support the safe delivery of network deployment activities. You'll combine practical site-based guidance with strong stakeholder collaboration, helping colleagues understand requirements, manage risk and embed safe working practices across the deployment lifecycle. You'll act as a trusted advisor, promoting open communication, supporting continuous improvement and helping teams navigate complex challenges with confidence and clarity.

  • You'll support the safe delivery of network build, upgrade and decommissioning activities, helping teams apply Health & Safety principles in day-to-day operations and site-level decision making.
  • You'll provide practical guidance and coaching to colleagues, suppliers and partners, ensuring Health & Safety requirements are clearly understood and consistently applied.
  • You'll work collaboratively with Network Deployment, Operations, Supply Chain and delivery teams to integrate Health & Safety requirements into planning, design, construction and operational processes.
  • You'll become a key point of contact for Health & Safety advice, offering support, clarification and constructive challenge where needed.
  • You'll build strong relationships across internal teams and external partners, encouraging open dialogue, early risk identification and effective problem solving.
  • You'll promote a positive safety culture by modelling inclusive leadership behaviours and encouraging teams to take ownership of safe working practices.
  • You'll support suppliers in understanding legal, contractual and procedural obligations, helping maintain high standards of compliance across the supply chain.
  • You'll participate in site visits, supplier reviews, audits and operational engagements, identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting the resolution of non-conformances.
  • You'll monitor Health & Safety performance data, audit findings and emerging trends, helping identify risks and supporting evidence-based improvements.
  • You'll communicate regulatory updates, procedural changes and best practice guidance in clear and accessible language.
  • You'll collaborate with regional, central and group Health & Safety teams to ensure alignment with evolving legislation, industry standards and operational expectations.
  • You'll contribute to review meetings, workshops, awareness sessions and industry forums, helping share knowledge and strengthen best practice across the business.
  • You'll support supplier onboarding activities, helping new partners understand expectations before work begins.
  • You'll help coordinate training activities and awareness programmes that strengthen capability across the organisation.

Who you are

  • You'll bring significant Health & Safety experience, ideally within telecommunications or another high-risk operational environment.
  • You'll hold a Level 6 Health & Safety qualification, or you'll be actively working towards achieving one.
  • You'll have a strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, industry standards and regulatory requirements, with the ability to translate them into practical guidance.
  • You'll understand network deployment activities and the ways Health & Safety requirements apply throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • You'll be confident supporting audit programmes, reviewing findings, tracking performance measures and contributing to meaningful improvement actions.
  • You'll be a collaborative partner who values teamwork and can build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • You'll be comfortable engaging with internal teams, contractors, suppliers and senior stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • You'll balance empathy and accountability, creating an environment where people feel supported while maintaining high standards.
  • You'll have strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends, assess risk and contribute to practical solutions.
  • You'll be an effective coach and mentor who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others develop their capabilities.
  • You'll be a clear and confident communicator, capable of simplifying complex technical or legislative topics for different audiences.
  • You'll demonstrate resilience, adaptability and sound judgement when responding to changing priorities and operational challenges.
  • You'll be able to influence positively, encourage engagement and gain commitment from stakeholders at all levels.
  • You'll understand the wider commercial and operational impact of Health & Safety performance and how it contributes to successful programme delivery.
  • You'll be committed to creating an inclusive, respectful and psychologically safe environment where everyone can perform at their best.
