Manager: Application Development & Support

Role Purpose/Business Unit:

  • The role of Manager: Applications Development & Support is to be accountable to ensure an optimised and efficient Enterprise Business services environment that operates within agreed service levels. The role will focus on ensuring quality delivery of new solutions within this environment with respect to system solutions, system integration, processes and controls as well as interacting with the business to ensure successful delivery of service requirements within agreed business service levels. To lead the development and support of enterprise business systems, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of IT services in an agile environment. The role focuses on enhancing system performance through innovation and continuous improvement. Ensure that technical solutions are compliant to all documented Vodacom policies, with specific focus on Cyber Security and business continuity, on a day-to-day basis, in accordance with the adopted Vodacom standards (e.g., AGILE, ISO).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To ensure high System and Service availability of the Enterprise Business and partner portal systems
  • To manage the department’s business support and technical application services environment according to ITIL service management principles
  • Accountable for managing service to customers in alignment with customer expectations of the products and services marketed within this environment
  • Manage quality of highly technical solution and numerous complex integrations ensuring end-to-end transaction performance and availability is uncompromised
  • Management of internal and external IT suppliers delivering technical and operational services, including commercial technical partners (Efficient and effective management of human resources in accordance with the needs of the department in line with Vodacom’s HR policies and procedures.)

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Matric / Grade 12 essential
  • 3-year relevant IT related Degree / Diploma essential
  • 2 - 3 years project management or people management experience is essential
  • 5+ years IT Operational support experience is essential, inclusive of:
    • 3 years Telecommunication experience is essential

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

  • IT Operations and Business Support services best practices
  • Service activation and provisioning.
  • Software Development life cycle
  • ITIL service Management: theory and implementation
  • Supplier Management of a managed services multi-vendor context
