About this Role

Location- NewburyWe are seeking an experienced IT Solutions Architect to support Vodafone Business IT in delivering high‑quality, end‑to‑end architecture and design for complex, cross‑domain telecommunications solutions. The individual will work across OSS, BSS and Enterprise domains, collaborating closely with teams across Vodafone Group, local markets and technology partners. This role will shape future‑ready architectures, ensure alignment with enterprise standards, and provide technical leadership for major product, customer and business transformation initiatives. The position is based in Newbury with occasional worldwide travel.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver comprehensive, pragmatic, and innovative end‑to‑end IT solution architectures that support both strategic and short‑term business priorities.
  • Understand, validate and translate medium‑term business and technical requirements into structured design artefacts across applications, processes, data and integration.
  • Provide thought leadership in architecture for new product introductions, customer solutions and business change initiatives.
  • Lead or contribute within cross‑functional virtual teams, ensuring clear accountability for design deliverables and alignment with enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Ensure solutions are designed to quality, cost and timeline expectations, and that they support downstream development, testing and deployment activities.
  • Facilitate design acceptance by contributing to acceptance criteria, and engage with all relevant business and technical teams to drive approval.
  • Assess risks associated with design decisions and navigate ambiguity to make informed architectural recommendations.
  • Build collaborative relationships across Vodafone functions and external partners to ensure designs follow best practice, align with roadmaps, and support business value.
  • Manage communication and engagement on IT designs with stakeholders across Group Technology, local markets, and external parties.
  • Support continuous improvement of architecture practices, reusable design assets and modelling standards.

Who you are

Essential:

  • Recent and proven experience delivering architecture and design across OSS, BSS and Enterprise domains within a large telecommunications environment.
  • Strong knowledge of application capabilities, integration practices, data design methodologies and industry best‑practice approaches.
  • Ability to work across a wide range of technical and business disciplines and communicate effectively with subject matter experts.
  • Skilled in managing complex and competing priorities while maintaining balanced and practical solution thinking.
  • Capable of balancing immediate needs with long‑term strategic direction.

Desired:

  • Working knowledge of architectures supporting Fixed and Mobile Connectivity, Unified Communications, Cloud & Security or IoT products.
  • Familiarity with TOGAF, TM Forum Frameworx and UML modelling standards.
  • Experience with E2E modelling tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect or IBM Rational tools.
  • Experience managing third parties involved in defining architecture and designs.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and handle objections constructively.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level and/or equivalent technical experience, with at least 8 years of delivering complex, cross‑domain IT solution designs in the telecommunications sector.
