Role Purpose/Business Unit:

Responsible for strategically building, managing and leveraging Vodacom’s data assets while maintaining the right balance between data risk and innovation. This leadership position involves synchronizing data across the organization, recognising that data is at the core of every application, process, and business decision. Our overarching goal is to harness data to enhance customer experiences, foster innovation, and support business objectives. Collaboration with various departments is essential to align data initiatives with business goals and to advance digital transformation through data enablement. Expected to establish repeatable and scalable data solutions. Accountable for adherence to data governance policies, regulatory data requirements and overall responsible use of data.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Data Strategy – Develop and execute a comprehensive data enablement strategy with IT aligned with the company's strategic objectives and commercial initiatives.
• Data Architecture – Oversee the design and implementation of robust, secure, flexible and cost effective data infrastructure.
• Data Management – Create valuable, high quality data assets easily accessible in data platforms or self service, secure reporting applications.
• Data Governance – Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data is secure, protected and of high quality.
• KPI Governance – Develop and document clear KPI definitions for the business, ensuring well governed and easily accessible to ensure standard adoption across the business.
• Performance Reporting – Develop advance performance reporting through the digitalisation and use of predictive and mathematical tooling.
• Data Literacy – Develop and implement initiatives to enhance data literacy across the organisation, including documentation, training sessions and feedback loops in relation to data warehouse data assets and Qlik Sense reporting tools.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• Honours degree in Accounting, Finance, Compter Science, Data Science or similar degree
• Excellent knowledge of data management principals, data warehousing and data lake concepts
• Knowledge of or executive certifications in cloud analytical technologies
• Comfortable working in Agile with formal Lean Portfolio Management training

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
• Leadership – Ability to lead and mentor teams across geographies, setting annual goals, managing quarterly delivery and advancing the skillset of the team.
• Stakeholder Management – Proactive collaboration and stakeholder management specifically with Big Data and Commercial.
• Analytical – Ability to understand business challenges and set direction fo insights team do deliver actionable insights and to partner with Big Data & CVM to ensure alignment.
• Financial – Understanding of financial accounting principals to support the build of data assets that are aligned and reconcile to financial reporting.
• Technical – Expertise in data management and analytic tooling, with knowledge of emerging and cloud technologies in the field.
• Agile – Ability to lead D&A and IT teams using Agile and prioritising demand and resource allocation on business value.
• Transformation – Track record in implementations of complex Data Driven Initiatives, balancing multiple concurrent projects across business units.
