What you’ll do

The Data Engineer will design, implement, and maintain data pipelines in Google Cloud Platform. The role is accountable to work closely with Product Owner to understand business needs and objectives as well as with BI Engineers to ensure the smooth data feed from various sources to GCP and afterwards to internal clients.

More specifically you will:

  • Work closely with Product Owner, Solution Architect and Engineers to develop new flows and migrate the existing on premises infrastructure to GCP.
  • Review appropriate architecture and other technical solutions and make recommendations to Business.
  • Review requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendation documents with clear project deliverables and timelines to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Promote cooperation and commitment within the team to achieve goals and deliverables.
  • Own the creation & implementation of the deployment kit and respective documentation.

Who you are

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a similar position, designing and developing infrastructure for large/medium scale migration efforts to GCP or other cloud platforms (i.e. Azure, AWS).
  • Hands on experience in migrating on-premises pipelines to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using tools such as BigQuery, Dataform, Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow), Google Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions.
  • Strong experience with large-scale production databases and SQL scripting, including cost monitoring and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge in data warehouse concepts will be considered as an asset
  • Experience with ETL development (extractions, data load, aggregation, transformation) using tools like Dataform, dbt etc.
  • Experience in enterprise transformation projects or migrations from legacy systems will be highly appreciated.
  • Nice to have:
  • Knowledge of PySpark, Python, Java and/or Scala.
  • Familiarity with using business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker
  • Experience with IaaC (e.g. Terraform)
  • Experience with Oracle Databases and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)
  • Promoter of cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and deliverables.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies / in Agile teams is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both Greek & English.
