Job Description

Role purpose

To ensure the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of M-Pesa financial data and transactions by validating payments, monitoring margins, overseeing key reporting systems, and acting as the main point of contact with the Vodacom Group Margin Assurance team.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership

  • Perform end-to-end validation and review of all M-Pesa related payments to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with defined processes and approvals.
  • Conduct margin assurance validation to ensure that expected revenues, costs, and commissions are correctly recorded and reflected in financial systems.
  • Maintain oversight and controls over key reporting platforms including MDF, G2 and BICP, ensuring consistency of data between systems.
  • Investigate and analyse discrepancies, anomalies, or abnormal trends in transactions and margins, and escalate issues where required.
  • Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) between M-Pesa/Vodacash and the Vodacom Group Margin Assurance team on all margin, data and control-related matters.
  • Support reconciliation processes by validating that data inputs align between transactional systems, reporting tools, and accounting records.
  • Maintain review and approval oversight on SharePoint, ensuring supporting documents are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal requirements.
  • Assist with the implementation and enhancement of margin assurance controls, monitoring tools, and automated checks.
  • Provide regular reports on margin integrity, data issues, anomalies, and corrective actions to management.

Job Knowledge

  • Familiarity with MDF, G2, BICP, MIS and SharePoint platforms
  • Strong MS Excel and data reconciliation skills
  • Understanding of internal controls and approval workflows

Job Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years in finance operations, revenue assurance, data analysis, or audit roles.
  • Experience in fintech or financial services an advantage
  • Experience working with large transactional data sets
  • Previous involvement in control, reconciliation or assurance functions preferred.

Must have technical / professional qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Analytics or related field.
  • Certifications in Internal Control, Audit, or Data Analytics are an advantage.
