Employment type:  Full time

Job Description

The Economics Manager role is embedded in the CTO Strategy team, which is a dedicated group of Strategists, Technology / Network Modelers, Financial Planners and Consultants. Our remit is to support CTO leadership in setting the divisional strategy, building the 3-year investment plan, refining the CTO operating model and undertaking options analysis to address CTO strategic challenges. Our team members are a mix of specialists and generalists, who support each other on activities and projects as part of a strong emphasis on team play.

The Economics Manager role supports CTO decision making processes by developing sophisticated economic models to help make complex Network investment decisions, reduce cost, and improve customer experience. You will be responsible for evaluating the economic implications of present and future architectures, technologies and products. You will cover a range of different technologies, working with key architecture, engineering and planning functions (as well as vendors) to provide economic options, ‘what if’ scenarios and recommendations.

It is a deeply analytical role that will collate, model and evaluate financial, technical and market data using systems, databases and spreadsheets. It requires the continual development of a broad knowledge of a number of network technologies.

  • Ideally, a good understanding of network technologies such as IP, MPLS, Ethernet/CIN, BNG, DOCSIS, PON, 2G – 5G and able to communicate confidently across these topics, researching and building understanding of any new concepts encountered as required
  • Sharp and analytical, a critical thinker, able to map cost vs benefit, scenarios, outcomes and consequences §
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised and to take on new challenges and develop
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, and to prioritise workload / tasks against fluid deadlines
