Job Description
Your job as a Principal Mobile Data Services Engineer is to protect the revenue and brand name of VMO2 by providing 3rd Line Technical Support and 24 hour call out on a rota basis for Packet Core 2G/3G/4G/5G , PCRF/PCF solutions.
You'll lead, coordinate, manage and investigate faults escalated to the MDS group, escalating where necessary to the equipment Vendors, whilst providing workarounds and processes for 1st, 2nd level and field engineers.
You'll also manage, coach and mentor support engineers to increase their technical and managerial skills.
In addition you are expected to Provide On call Support 24*7 on a rota basis (1 in 4/5 weeks) and provide helpdesk Support for BAU cases from 1st/2nd line

The must haves
In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;
- Previous experience in Mobile data packet core elements (MME,S/PGW , ePDG, AMF, SMF, UPF), PCRF/PCF (voice and data)
- End to end understanding of data call flows and grasp of telecommunication systems from an end to end perspective
- Previous experience of analysing and troubleshooting service, application and network performance issues for business critical systems
- Vendor management experience – including ORTs
- To be able to work under pressure and provide clear and concise instructions and timely reports on any service disruptions, whilst aiding restoration of the service and management escalations as and when necessary
The other stuff we are looking for
We'd also love you to bring;
- Project management experience is desirable
- Shell Scripting (bash, perl) is desirable
