Job Description

The Configuration Management team are responsible for ensuring that the data in the Virgin Media O2 Configuration Management Databases (CMDB) acts as a single source of truth for all Virgin Media O2 configuration data because it is maintained, modelled and governed.

It's your job to support/provide the architectural steer and consultancy for the Configuration Management systems and Discovery Tools providing support to the "Discovery and Configuration Manager" and project teams.

You'll also be responsible for the development, support and maintenance of the BMC Discovery and Atrium infrastructure helping TS&O achieve its strategic objectives, whilst managing support issues, owning the issues end to end and working with Vendors and Suppliers for resolution.

You'll work closely with the Senior Discovery and Configuration Manager, Configuration Managers and Data Governance Managers to identify and deliver improvements to processes, reporting and data quality across the configuration management and ITSM systems and processes promoting automation where possible.

Another key part of this role is to work closely with Infrastructure and project teams to ensure that configuration management requirements and processes are correctly followed when provisioning new hardware & software or changing/decommissioning existing CI’s and relationships.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Experience of enterprise level Configuration Management System/CMDB
  • Experience managing an enterprise level BMC Discovery (ADDM) infrastructure including use and administration experience
  • Application Modelling knowledge - Including BMC SAAM (Start Anywhere Application Mapping), CAM (Collaborative Application Mapping).
  • Good understanding and use of BMC Helix/Remedy and Atrium CMDB with a good understanding of BMC Common Data Model and the SID (Shared Information Data model)
  • In depth understanding of technologies used by IT Infrastructure (Virtualisation, LDOM, Cloud etc)
  • Strong understanding of Configuration Management’s role within other ITSM functions, including exposure/experience of Change Management, Incident Management (including Major Incident) and Problem Management
