Job Description

We have a great new role for a Head of Transformation Delivery - Fixed, to join our Digital Networks Transformation team. The role leads the delivery of complex, multi‑year telecommunications network transformation programmes, working across multiple CTO directorates and the wider business. You will partner closely with CTO, CIO and executive stakeholders to translate strategy into executable programmes, ensuring delivery at pace across large‑scale initiatives such as network expansion, access and core modernisation, and OSS enablement.

Key responsibilities & accountabilities

  • Own and lead the CTO transformation portfolio, providing strategic oversight, prioritisation, and governance across multiple concurrent programmes
  • Provide senior leadership for large-scale, network‑focused transformation programmes, delivering against agreed scope, milestones, financials, and benefits
  • Lead the delivery of service deployments including, but not limited to, XGS‑PON, Mobile Backhaul (MBH), and B2B network services
  • Oversee end‑to‑end programme and project delivery across B2C, B2B, B2B2C and large‑scale network expansion initiatives, including OSS development and integration
  • Build, lead and develop high‑performing programme and project management teams, embedding strong delivery mentality, capability growth and succession
  • Own programme‑level risk, issue and dependency management, ensuring proactive identification, mitigation, escalation and resolution
  • Establish and maintain strong, trusted relationships with senior and executive‑level stakeholders, enabling effective decision‑making and delivery alignment
  • Ensure robust programme governance, reporting and controls, providing clear, concise insight to executive forums

Who we are

The UK’s fastest broadband network. The nation’s best-loved mobile brand. And, one of the UK's biggest companies too. We put our customers first, making life simpler, smoother, and more joyful. With big ambitions and a brilliant team, we’re building a more connected future for everyone.

Our ways of working

We’re a flexible-first organisation, because we know people do their best work when they have choice and clarity. To support meaningful collaboration, we ask everyone to spend at least eight days each month connecting in person.

That doesn’t just mean time in the office, it could be team meetings, offsites, volunteering days, cross-functional projects, or away days - anywhere meaningful collaboration happens. What matters is making those moments purposeful, so when we come together, it really counts.

Accessible, inclusive and equitable for all

Virgin Media O2 is an equal opportunities employer and we're working hard to remove bias and barriers for our people and candidates. So, we build equity and inclusion into everything we do, from the policies we craft to the relationships we shape. We support and encourage you to be your authentic self throughout your application journey with us.

The must haves

  • Extensive experience leading strategic, multi‑year telecommunications programmes with delivery accountability to executive‑level stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of end‑to‑end network architecture, including but not limited to IP/MPLS, ERPS, Optical Backhaul and Core networks
  • Proven experience in the deployment of Access, Packet and Core networks at scale
  • Deep understanding of Converged Interconnect Networks and their role in enabling service delivery
  • Experience of single‑touch automation to enable deployment of services across Access and Packet networks
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing high‑performing programme and project management teams
  • Extensive experience managing programme‑level risks, issues, dependencies and interlocks across complex delivery environments
  • Excellent communication, influence and stakeholder management skills, including engagement at executive level

The other stuff we are looking for

  • Preparation and ownership of executive‑level and board‑level reporting, including status, risk, financials and decision support
  • Proven ability to identify, track and realise tangible benefits from transformation programmes, with a strong focus on value delivery
  • Experience balancing and optimising a portfolio of programmes and projects to maximise outcomes and strategic alignment
  • Clear understanding of programme‑level financial management, including forecasting, controls, governance processes and accounting treatments
  • Experience delivering at pace in high‑pressure, ambiguous environments, actively unblocking teams and resolving complex delivery challenges
  • Strong ability to bring together disparate teams and directorates around shared strategic objectives and outcomes

What's in it for you

Our goal is to celebrate our people, their lives and everything in-between. We aim to create a culture that empowers everyone to bring the best versions of themselves to work each and every day. We believe the most inclusive and diverse culture makes for a better business and a brighter world.

Next steps

If we feel like a place where you can belong, we'd love to learn more about you as a person and your experience to date. Once you've submitted an application the next steps of the process, if successful, are likely to include a competency based interview

When you apply, you'll be asked about any adjustments you might need to support the recruitment process. Let us know, and we'll be sure to discuss it with you.

Please note: Applications will be reviewed, and interviews conducted throughout the duration of this advert, therefore we may bring the closing date forward. We encourage all interested applicants to apply as soon as possible. If you’re offered a job with us, it will be conditional, based on the passing of background checks.
