What you’ll be doing...
The Verizon Global Payroll team strives for the highest degree of accurate, timely, and compliant pay to our employees. The Associate Director of Payroll Audit and Compliance plays a critical role in this. Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Payroll, this role will lead a multi-level organization of skilled professionals responsible for a variety of compliance activities, primarily including:
Management and oversight of all Payroll financial activities: point of contract for departmental budgeting, invoice handling, balancing and funding, capital and expense planning.
Payroll performance KPI tracking: data gathering, analysis, distribution, benchmarking, identification of pertinent trends and anomalies, presentation to leadership.
Recoupment efforts related to employee overpayments: adherence to regulations for both active and former employees, correspondence and follow-up, application of payments received, collections management.
US and international Payroll Compliance (for processes and systems, internal and third party providers): monitoring of federal and state payroll legislation, maintenance of payroll compliance documentation, compliance watchlists and newsletters, vendor relationship management, adherence to data retention requirements, completion and support of internal and external international audits, monitoring and updating internal Verizon applications that support various vendor frameworks.
Payroll SOX Control Management: process evaluation, baseline testing, user access reviews, proactive monitoring of transactions, identification of potential weaknesses, collaboration with functional teams, presentation to internal and external parties and executive leadership.
Operational compliance work: Payroll mail services, entry of paper of manual employee tax forms, crafting and distributing of employee payroll communications, employee payroll record indexing, fulfillment of legal requests.
Management of or participation in special projects as required.
What we’re looking for...
We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong and proven background in Payroll compliance, financial and operations support, with domestic and/or international focus. This leader must be detail-oriented, a strong communicator with experience and comfort presenting to internal and external parties as well as executive leadership. Time management, the ability to handle multiple priorities with strict deadlines, and organization skills are critical. The Associate Director will coach, mentor, and development their organization, as well as build and strengthen relationships with other parties (inside and outside Verizon). Integrity, professionalism, and the ability to handle confidential information with the appropriate care are essential for this role.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
Eight or more years of relevant work experience.
People leadership experience, minimum of three years.
Budget (expense or capital) management experience, minimum of two years.
Experience managing US and/or international payroll compliance requirements.
Reporting and data analysis capability.
Experience with Workday, PeopleSoft or other HCM systems and data.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Relevant professional certifications.
Master's Degree in a relevant field of study.
Experience with Infor and other time reporting systems.
Direct vendor relationship management experience.
Working knowledge of data retention requirements.
Experience managing multi-level organizations, with subordinate people leaders.
Customer or employee service experience.
Collections management experience.
Project management experience.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Must have highest degree of integrity and privacy compliance.
Strong experience with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
