The Payroll Centre of Excellence (CoE) Manager - Rest of World will play a critical role in overseeing accurate and timely payments for our global workforce based outside of the UK, representing payroll service delivery to circa 800 employees. Reporting to the Director, Workday and Payroll CoE, this role acts as the process owner for all in-scope Payroll services across ROW and is responsible for the management of 3rd party providers engaged to deliver these services. Responsible for the overall management and governance of these 3rd party services, together with linking these relationships with all key stakeholders internally.
The Payroll CoE team are responsible for all Payroll configuration and business processes globally within Centrica. The Payroll CoE Manager – ROW owns (outside UK) Payroll operations, including implementation of new country acquisitions and ongoing payroll operations, Denmark, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, and Germany.
This role would be suited to someone who can operate effectively in a fast paced, technical, and innovative environment.
Payroll CoE Manager (ROW) - The Role:
Business Process Owner of end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring that documentation is in place and maintained
Owner of Payroll Controls, working with internal stakeholders to ensure that risks are identified, mitigated, and documented
Governance of Cloudpay, Visma and other 3rd party payroll relationships, ensuring that service standards are maintained
Management of dedicated in-country payroll resources (remote team management) including assessing back up options for payroll processing when Payroll Leads are on leave
Owner of the overall ROW Payroll landscape, ensuring oversight of systems, processes, operations, and integrations
Accountable for payroll compliance, looking ahead to ensure that we are in front of any forthcoming changes which impact payroll in the relevant locations
Provide Payroll policy and process guidance & advice to a variety of stakeholders
Work closely with Data and Integrations teams to resolve any issues between Workday and 3rd party payrolls
Escalation point for process issues which the local Payroll team are unable to resolve
Key stakeholder for Mergers and Acquisitions team and ROW People Partners when integrating new locations into the Centrica landscape
Lead on resolving escalated requests and assessing process breakdowns
Lead Payroll Projects, defining and implementing Global roadmap for payroll enhancements and process automation projects. Proficiency in developing persuasive business cases would be required in advocating for proposed payroll changes
Your Skills and Qualifications should reflect our values and will include:
Recent experience in a ROW payroll delivery role essential
Recognised payroll qualification essential
Stakeholder engagement (internal and external)
Remote Team Management - good people skills-supporting and collaborating with local Payroll Leads
Able to present information logically, communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders at all levels
Able to plan and organize the work of themselves and others to ensure the achievement of targets and outcomes
Experience in developing and owning procedure process flows and policies essential
Ability to document HR processes and identify and implement improvements
Experience managing a 3rd party payroll provider for multiple locations
Experience with moving frequency of payroll (bi-weekly to monthly)
Understanding of Cloudpay /Visma systems and processes desirable
Strong understanding of Workday time, absence, HCM and expenses modules desirable
Able to delve into complex process issues and resolve when required
Able to self-manage confidently, with good personal productivity and self-motivation
