What you’ll be doing...

As our Associate Director of Commercial Resale and New Product, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Category Strategy. Leading a team of Category Sourcing Experts who will establish and execute sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, negotiation, risk management and supply base performance management. The position will require a dynamic professional with a transformational approach to Sourcing, with the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience to design and execute strategies in a global environment. This role will be responsible for a team of direct reports, working collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and implement sourcing strategies to solve business problems. This is a key role within a high-visibility, dynamic, high-performing team based out of Verizon’s Limerick office.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating closely with key business partners to understand their priorities and challenges; assess their needs on an ongoing basis; and manage their expectations.

  • Partnering with our business stakeholders to develop and implement Category Sourcing strategies.

  • Driving all aspects of the complex strategic sourcing process.

  • Lead, manage, coach and develop a team of Category experts.

  • Ensuring that sourcing strategy’s result in and generate roadmaps of savings and value streams, and where appropriate, innovation opportunities.

  • Negotiation planning and contracting with suppliers, ensuring that agreements reflect Verizon’s needs globally.

  • Developing Category savings roadmap, maintain and track value.

  • Executing supplier relationship management activities, effectively maintaining positive and ethical working relationships.

  • Leveraging market dynamics and mitigating risk.

  • Balancing short and long term objectives to meet business strategy and efficiencies in alignment with business stakeholders.

  • Supplier rationalization – leverages existing supplier base to appropriately consolidate products and services.

  • Assigns resources to sourcing projects, tracks overall progress and ensures successful completion of sourcing projects on-time.

  • Responsible for managing all personnel-related activities such as: recruitment, compensation planning, performance appraisals, personal development and team planning.

  • Drafting of customized development plans to ensure each team member focuses on training, improving skill sets and enhancing the value they deliver to the company.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Extensive experience in indirect sourcing.

  • Proven ability to drive change and transformation.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Knowledge of Strategic Sourcing processes, policies, and procedures.

  • Strong negotiation skills and value management practices.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and problem solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong team leadership skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced matrixed global environment.

  • Project Management in a complex multi-project and multi-geography environment.

  • Self-motivated /self-starter with ability to work independently.

  • Analytical and/or technical experience with strong attention to detail.

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to prepare and present across multiple organizational leadership levels.

  • Strong leadership abilities with a proven ability to engage and influence collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
