Vattenfall is now looking for a Offshore Wind Decommissioning Engineer to be part of the Transportation & Installation Engineering team within our Business Area Wind, Offshore, Project Delivery & Engineering.

The Project Delivery & Engineering department is the technical know-how center within Business Area Wind, setting the standards and guidelines as well as being embedded within our projects, both through the development and implementation phase as well as in operations.

What will you do?

As Decommissioning Engineer you represent the Project Execution organization and will be mainly supporting our offshore wind projects in their development stage. Your responsibilities in this context is to lead and drive the Transport and Installation concepts across all installation packages, as a Support to our Technical Project Managers.

This involves tasks such as:

  • Creation and updating of Decommissioning Programs for operational and development sites
  • Logistics schedule and cost model creation (both in Excel and supporting the implementation to FEPM BB), this also includes calibration with ops data and further development e.g. to include new foundation types
  • Use of the logistics schedule and cost modelling tool for development projects
  • Annual update of cost estimates (within Generation's decom costs tool) for all operational sites in a fully traceable and auditable process, plus support to all country audits that follow this
  • Development of our decommissioning execution capability- supporting the category strategy, internal process creation, governance topics

Location: Amsterdam, Kolding, Hamburg, London.

Qualifications

We are looking for a person who is willing to and capable of managing the decommissioning related projects and standards. Both our operational assets as well as our pipeline projects require continuous support in decommissioning related topics. Your previous experiences will enable you to provide valuable input to our fleet, as well as engagement to our future project pipeline.

  • Candidates for this job have a graduate degree and/or equivalent experience in offshore decommissioning or Transport and Installation, preferably multiple disciplines (Foundation, Cables, WTGs, Hydrogen).
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience is required. Competences will preferably have been gained in highly regulated industries (e.g. offshore, renewables, oil and gas or chemical industry).
  • Experience with offshore wind decommissioning methodologies will give the best fit, but otherwise the preferred candidate has experience with e.g. Oil & decommissioning. Knowledge about offshore installation vessels, tools and methodologies and relevant offshore codes and standards is of advantage.
  • Experience with execution of offshore decommissioning projects is essential: accomplished at setting targets, development planning, quantifying risks and impact on budget. Experience at an offshore Installation Contractor is highly appreciated.
  • Strong technical understanding with the ability to resolve detail issues and to convey complex technical matters and risk costing coherently.
  • You will be part of a highly skilled team in the Transportation & Installation Engineering Department. Your role will primarily be focused on supporting our operational assets in decommissioning related questions.
  • A positive mindset with strong self-motivation and resilience, a flexible and proactive approach to find solutions and comfortable at simultaneously manage several tasks to often challenging deadlines
