As our Capital Delivery Programme continues to grow, we're looking for a talented Technical Author to play a critical role in ensuring the knowledge, information and documentation behind these projects is captured, communicated and maintained to the highest standard.
This is a unique opportunity to combine your technical expertise, writing skills and stakeholder management experience within one of the UK's largest infrastructure organisations.
If you're passionate about turning complex technical information into clear, practical and user-friendly documentation that enables safe and efficient operations, we'd love to hear from you.
Why This Role Matters
Every asset delivered through our Capital Delivery Programme requires high-quality technical documentation to ensure it can be operated, maintained, managed and improved effectively throughout its lifecycle.
As a Technical Author, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining critical asset documentation across water, wastewater and bioresource treatment and distribution systems.
Working closely with engineers, project managers, technicians and operational teams, you'll help bridge the gap between technical complexity and operational understanding, ensuring our people have access to accurate information when they need it most.
Your work will directly support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, asset performance and the safe delivery of services to millions of customers across the North West.

- Ensure documentation is accessible to a wide range of audiences, from engineers and technicians to operational colleagues and regulatory stakeholders.
Collaborating with Subject Matter Experts

- Convert complex technical terminology into practical, user-friendly guidance.
- Validate technical accuracy and completeness before publication.
- Capture critical asset knowledge from project teams and delivery partners.
Supporting Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all documentation aligns with industry regulations, standards and company requirements.
- Stay up to date with changing legislation, guidance and best practice within the water industry.
- Support the delivery of compliant asset information across the Capital Delivery Programme.
Maintaining Quality and Accuracy
- Review and edit documentation to ensure consistency, accuracy and quality.
- Apply established document control processes, templates and formatting standards.
- Manage documentation revisions and updates through effective version control.
- Ensure records remain current throughout the asset lifecycle.
Supporting Change and Operational Readiness
- Develop training materials and user guides to support the implementation of new assets, technologies and processes.
- Help operational teams transition assets safely and effectively into service.
- Support business readiness by ensuring critical information is available at project handover.
Building Strong Stakeholder Relationships
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, project delivery and asset management.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand documentation requirements and incorporate feedback.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance information quality and accessibility.
