Job Description

The Role

We're looking for a Regional Response Fleet Controller to play a vital role in ensuring our emergency response fleet is always ready to support customers and protect essential water services. This is a hands-on, varied position where no two days are the same.

As a key member of the Regional Response team, you'll be responsible for maintaining fleet readiness, ensuring O-Licence compliance, and supporting the preparation and upkeep of vehicles, plant and equipment used during critical operational events.

What You'll Be Doing

In this important role, you will:

  • Carry out vehicle and emergency plant inspections and report defects promptly.
  • Download and manage vehicle tachograph data.
  • Ensure fleet, equipment, and yard areas remain compliant, safe, and well organised.
  • Prepare Alternative Supply Vehicles (ASVs), bowsers, welfare units, and emergency response equipment for operational use.
  • Support first-line maintenance of vehicles, plant, stores, and equipment.
  • Assist with the disinfection of alternative water supply equipment, including tanks and pipework.
  • Monitor vehicle servicing, MOT schedules, and fleet compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with Regional Response Coordinators and Team Leaders to ensure vehicles are available where needed.
  • Support agency drivers and new operators by familiarising them with vehicles, equipment, and site requirements.
  • Liaise with contractors and operational teams to maintain effective site operations.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in line with Health & Safety standards and regulatory requirements.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who is practical, proactive, and takes pride in maintaining high operational standards.

Essential Requirements

  • Class 1 (Category C+E) HGV Licence.
  • Current Driver CPC qualification.
  • Good understanding of vehicle, plant, and equipment maintenance.
  • Strong commitment to Health & Safety procedures and compliance.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake ongoing training and professional development.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and operational requirements.
