The Role:
The Network Leakage Technician (Days) plays a vital role in supporting water network performance by helping to reduce leakage and meet regulatory, customer, and efficiency targets. Reporting to the Leakage Team Leader, the position focuses on delivering against the Distribution Operations Maintenance Strategy (DOMS) through both proactive and reactive leakage detection. Acting as a “leakage champion,” the technician analyses flow and pressure data to identify potential issues and applies appropriate detection methods such as correlating, sounding, step testing, and data logging. The role involves raising repair work, supporting incident response, and carrying out key operational activities including valve operations, mains flushing, and supply interruptions. In addition, the technician is responsible for installing and maintaining monitoring equipment, conducting water quality tests, and ensuring accurate system updates. Strict compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including confined space entry and risk assessments, is essential. The role also requires collaboration with wider teams, maintaining vehicles and equipment, and completing administrative tasks, all contributing to maintaining network integrity and delivering reliable service to customers.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Act as a “leakage champion,” carrying out proactive and reactive leak detection based on data analysis and network requirements.

- Raise and manage repair work, including coordinating network interruptions and supporting incident response activities.
- Carry out key operational tasks such as valve operations, DMA interrogation, mains flushing, equipment setup, and water quality testing.
- Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety standards while maintaining equipment, completing admin tasks, and supporting team operations in-day and out of hours.
