Engineering and Maintenance is a function within our airline organisation responsible for Aircraft Maintenance. The Engineering and Maintenance function operates as a multi-disciplinary team of experts driving efficiency and innovation.

As Engineering Operational Excellence Lead you will have accountability to increase the quality, effectiveness and consistency of the value created by the CAMO organization. Whilst elevating Operational Excellence standards and practices linked to quality, competitiveness and profitability, you play a key role in TUI Airline CAMO organization designing and leading the integration of lean and operational excellence methodologies, tools and techniques within the overall CAMO organization. In this global role, you act as the strategic expert and ‘go to person’ for both the business stakeholders as the senior management within the CAMO for all related Lean and Operational Excellence matters.


In this role, you’ll report to the Projects and Airworthiness Manager (CAMO).

ABOUT THE JOB

As Engineering Operational Excellence Lead, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Lead the integration of lean and operational excellence methodologies, tools and techniques within the TUI CAMO organisation:

  • Actively audit the airworthiness of TUI aircraft and compliance with approved procedures

  • Provide proactive and strategic guidance and direction to develop and deliver continuous improvement to process alignment and integration, cost control/reduction, efficiency, and overall departmental performance

  • Influence, develop, coach and train CAMO staff and to increase competencies, skills and performance

  • Co-ordinate improvement actions with the contracted maintenance organisations on compliance with the CAMO procedures

  • You envision a Long Term Roadmap for the optimal Process and Organizational (P&O) to realize a structurally embedded continuous improvement in operations to deliver the vision and set targets

  • Develop CAMO organizational capabilities in lean and operational excellence, support and coach the business functions

  • Build a strong continuous improvement spirit, enhance collaboration within the teams and with E&M stakeholders to analyze and implement continuous improvement opportunities

  • Drive sustainable bottom-up improvement actions, report on progress and manage risks/issues in tandem with the business stakeholders

  • Follow up on evolutions in the domain of lean/ opex and other related excellence areas relevant to CAMO

ABOUT YOU

  • Possess a relevant master engineering degree in Aeronautics, combined with at least 5 years’ previous management experience in an airline / independent CAMO organization or aircraft maintenance environment.
  • You have a solid knowledge of EASA Part-M, Part-CAMO and Part-21 regulations
  • Experienced in program and change management, you master strategic, analytical and creative thinking to achieve results with pragmatism.
  • You have experience in Lean Six Sigma management and/or experience in operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • You are capable to operate in a complex and fast-paced environment and cut through to value creation.
  • You have strong operational excellence skills from best in class and deliver consistent scorecards.
  • You have strong personal leadership with gravitas and resilience.
  • You have an intrinsic passion to coach and develop teams and individuals.
  • Personal and professional credibility to establish effective relationships to Director-level, and to coach and influence senior leaders
  • Collaborate cross functionally with key stakeholders based on your strong negotiating and influencing skills and natural and effective approach to challenging and questioning
  • Role requires strong business English, both spoken and written, and may involve some international travel
