Job Summary

Working within the finance team the Staff Accountant will be responsible for completing the monthly accounting of two European legal entities (Germany and UK). This will include balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry preparation and financial statement reviews. This person will also work with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and Intercompany departments regarding invoicing, coding and confirmations of balances with Intercompany entities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Preparation and documentation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB) as well as UK and US GAAP
  • Support in monthly and annual financial statement reporting to the US parent company
  • Execution, coordination, and documentation of all accounting processes in the general ledger (including bank accounting, asset accounting, and wage and salary posting)
  • Reconciliation and maintenance of intercompany accounting
  • Management and assurance of proper accounting in the ERP system
  • Closing entries and accruals as well as preparation of the support for the balance sheet up to submission to the auditors
  • Interaction with global financial and business teams
  • Contact person for auditors and the tax department regarding the European companies

Skills & Experience We Would Like you to Have

  • Business level proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken is essential
  • Demonstratable experience, 2 – 4 years, working in a finance department in an international environment
  • Strong understanding of German GAAP (HGB) & UK GAAP
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and influence key stakeholders.
  • Self-starter and flexible attitude, comfortable thriving in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Solutions driven mindset continuously looking to optimize processes.
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Experience with JD Edwards or similar software systems desirable
  • A love of numbers would be ideal.
