The Role
Bangkok is our original Engineering hub, it drives core products like our “Studio” CMS for digital signage, our SCOS hardware efforts, and our Data & Security functions. Thailand drives everything our customers need to operate stunning digital signage at scale with user-friendly tools on a reliable, secure service.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to help lead the team, focused on managing deliveries from cycle to cycle, supporting and scaling the team, and working with Tech Leads and Staff Engineers to constantly improve our velocity and ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership across various delivery teams, including software engineers, QAs, designers, and Product Managers.
  • Take ownership of projects, ensuring deliveries are on track and meeting quality standards.
  • Line Manager and work closely with Tech Leads and Staff Engineers to identify and remove obstacles, enhance their skills & careers, and foster a supportive and effective work environment.
  • Continuously assess the team's processes, tools, and methodologies to improve ways of working and velocity.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between team members and departments.
  • Work with our Security and Ops teams when needed to help set targets and ensure their goals align with our delivery goals, driving a faster, more secure work environment for everyone.
  • Participate in and run sessions such as betting tables (where we select and scope projects), project kick-offs and retrospectives.
  • Provide leadership to manage and motivate our developers, designers, QAs and PMs, while setting clear goals, feedback and guidance as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience leading teams and delivering projects, ideally cross-functional teams where end-to-end ownership of a problem is highly valued
  • Knowledge of modern cloud-based systems, having worked on solutions deployed across AWS, Azure or GCP. Able to understand metrics and observability tooling, and use the findings there to both influence future roadmap projects and assess the impact of current initiatives.
  • Have managed people in the past, are able to mentor and support them, as well as provide guidance to other managers on getting the best out of a team
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, processes, and tools Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and asynchronously across timezones or locations when needed
  • A results-oriented mindset, with a focus on delivering high-quality products on time and objectively able to assess quality and impact afterwards to learn from it
  • Knowledge in system architecture design, able to understand a system and spot risks or potential issues. We use event-driven architectures primarily.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience working with the technologies and frameworks used by the company (e.g. React, Node, TypeScript, Serverless, Hono/Express, DynamoDB, Postgres etc.)
  • Experience working with cloud providers such as AWS and Azure.
  • Have implemented and assessed process or technical improvements, such as for monitoring, design, testing, release etc and
  • We use a variation of Basecamp’s “Shape Up” methodology, where work is tackled in 6-week cycles. Open-mindedness and experience working in different approaches over the years is a plus.
  • Have grown teams in the past and helped recruit new members into them.
