Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you’ll build

We help the world run better.

Our company culture is centered on enabling our employees to innovate by building breakthroughs together. We focus on creating a workplace that embraces differences, values flexibility, and supports a purpose-driven and future-focused way of working. You will join a collaborative, caring team environment with a strong focus on learning, development, recognition, and a variety of benefit options.

We are forming a new SRE team focused on K8S Unified Gateway Services, and as a Technical SRE Lead, you will help define how reliability, automation, observability, and security are built and scaled across critical services. You will act as a role model with both technical expertise and strong soft skills, actively sharing knowledge and contributing to the development of your colleagues. You will play a central role in stakeholder management - aligning and balancing priorities across teams, leadership, and the broader SRE organization.

You will guide the team’s roadmap and commitments, propose and adopt new tools and practices, and help enable a proactive approach to incident management. Your work spans leveraging AI/ML technologies, applying the latest security standards, building automation and observability frameworks, and driving projects that have impact across the entire SRE organization. When required, you will participate in weekend or overnight on-call rotations during live-site situations, supported by a special compensation package.

Your key focus areas will be:

· Leading technical direction, roadmap execution, and stakeholder alignment

· Enabling observability, automation, and proactive incident management

· Driving impactful initiatives across the SRE organization

· Facilitating strong collaboration across global technical and non-technical teams

What you bring

You hold a BSc degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field, and you bring expert-level experience as a DevOps or SRE engineer. You have hands-on experience with Linux/Unix and Kubernetes, and deep knowledge of cloud architecture or platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. You understand cloud security concepts such as identity and access management, authentication, certificate management, and malware protection, and you have strong expertise in virtualization and cloud networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/2, TLS, NAT, VPNs, and firewalls.

You bring excellent understanding of Envoy Proxy and service mesh technologies, and experience with Git, GitHub, Terraform, and Postgres. You can program in Python, Bash, or Go, and have worked with monitoring and visualization tools like Dynatrace, Kibana, Prometheus, and Grafana. You are familiar with CI/CD approaches using Jenkins or Concourse, and may have experience with PKI, cryptographic applications, or application attacks. You are comfortable working in an Agile environment, thrive in critical situations, and quickly analyze and solve problems. You are a proactive, self-motivated team player with excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills and fluency in English.

Your essential strengths include:

· Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and cloud networking

· Strong hands-on experience with automation, observability, and CI/CD tooling

· Solid background in cloud security and modern infrastructure practices

· Ability to lead technical direction while collaborating across global teams

We know from experience that not ticking every box on the skills sections stops many from applying. Please apply regardless of your self-assessment - we want to hear from you! We have seen people succeed with a diverse range of skills and experiences.

Where you belong

You will join a newly formed, globally distributed SRE team operating from Bulgaria (Sofia), Brazil (São Leopoldo), and China (Shanghai). Our culture is based on knowledge sharing, collaboration, positive attitude, and respect for each team member’s strengths and individuality. We treat challenges as opportunities to grow, learn, and succeed together.

In this team, you can expect:

· A collaborative culture grounded in learning, trust, and technical excellence

· Opportunities to influence SRE direction across a global organization

· A supportive environment that values initiative, curiosity, and teamwork

If you want to be part of a rapidly evolving cloud-native ecosystem that will shape the industry in the coming years, we would love to hear from you.
