What you’ll do

We are seeking a Principal Program Manager for Sales Performance Management (SPM) SaaS Product to orchestrate strategic programs within the global Sales Performance Management organization at SAP. You will engage with a broad group of stakeholders across the SPM business, including Sales, marketing, services, success, and operations. You will also build/leverage a network of stakeholders within other SAP groups, partners and customers, leaning on your strong collaboration, ideation and influence skills to ensure cross team communication, transparency and awareness of all aspects of the strategic program, including scope, timelines, resources, customer and partner activities, program success measures, as well as product and engineering related deliverables. These strategic programs support our growth targets and are central to our strategic objectives across our end to end business.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Strategic Decision-Making
      • Leverage your curiosity and understanding of innovative opportunities in the market to differentiate our portfolio in the market
      • Lead rigorous evaluations and recommendations for build vs. buy vs. partner choices for new features, integrations, and platform capabilities.
      • Conduct market and competitive analysis, total cost of ownership, time-to-market, and technical feasibility studies to inform decisions.
      • Define clear success criteria, KPIs, and acceptance plans for chosen solutions.
  • Vendor & Partner Management
      • Evaluate and manage relationships with vendors and technology partners, including contract and SLA considerations.
      • Define integration patterns, data contracts, and operational requirements for partner-built components.
      • Represent the company in partner negotiations and technical integrations.
  • Program & Project Management
      • Own planning, sequencing, and delivery of cross-functional product programs, spanning multiple planning cycles.
      • Produce detailed plans with milestones, resourcing, risk logs, dependency maps, and budgets.
      • Drive day-to-day program execution, remove blockers, and ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
      • Work closely with product managers, engineering leads, designers, security, and GTM teams to align requirements and trade-offs.
      • Facilitate discovery workshops, requirements gathering, and stakeholder alignment sessions.
      • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership with clear, data-backed updates.
  • In partnership with services, partners and support, deliver individual project status and risk profile for major pre-defined milestones per implementation project
  • Lead rigorous evaluations and recommendations for build vs. buy vs. partner choices for new features, integrations, and platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate with services, support and engineering to track repeat project issues that require investment to permanently resolve
  • Capture retrospectives with support customer success partners, services, support and partners on key implementation efforts post project close

What you bring

  • 10 years of experience in program management, and product development within a SaaS environment. PMP certification highly desired; Lean Six Sigma certification also desired but not required
  • Proven experience leading build/buy/partner decisions for complex product initiatives and delivering cross-functional programs.
  • Positive, energetic, engaging interpersonal style
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical capability, and structured decision-making.
  • Expert program and project management skills: scoping, planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Familiarity with SaaS architecture concepts (multi-tenancy, APIs, cloud services), and pragmatic technical fluency.
  • Hands-on with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tools like Jira, Confluence, or Asana.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to delivery on-time, on budget, meeting customer and internal program objectives
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and core team members to execute successfully
  • Experience effectively collaborating with others either in a formal team setting or on dynamic project-based teams to produce joint work products
  • Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset to iterate on work methods and work products to improve their efficiency, quality, and impact
  • Ability to work and communicate with internal and external stakeholders with varying functions and seniority
  • Experience with incentive strategies for revenue generating roles, sales planning, customer segmentation and/or go to market models desired
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 164700 - 374,200 (USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
