About the Role

SAP helps the world run better. We enable organizations to operate with purpose and agility, turning complexity into opportunity. Join us and help build the platforms that power intelligent enterprises worldwide.

We are looking for a Platform Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering team and drive the transformation of a legacy Java-based platform into a modern cloud-native, AI-native platform. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about infrastructure, cloud platforms, distributed systems, and building the foundation for intelligent enterprise technology.

In this role, you will work closely with engineers across platform, infrastructure, security, and data teams to modernize foundational platform capabilities. You will design and implement solutions that improve scalability, reliability, security, and developer productivity across the platform. You will work hands-on with modern technologies and architectural patterns involving hyperscalers, APIs, service mesh, messaging frameworks, data platforms, GPUs, agents, and MCP-based services.

This is an ideal role for an engineer who wants to own and deliver impactful work on the systems and tooling that power modern enterprise platforms.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive the modernization of a legacy Java-based platform into a cloud-native and AI-native architecture
  • Design and implement shared platform capabilities across data, roles, permissions, security, infrastructure, and service communication
  • Build and maintain platform services involving API gateways, service mesh, feature flags, secrets management, and service discovery
  • Own engineering deliverables across platform capabilities such as Vault, Consul, database frameworks, messaging systems, and integration services
  • Design and implement event-driven and messaging patterns using technologies such as Kafka
  • Build platform infrastructure for modern AI workloads, including infrastructure patterns related to GPUs, agents, and MCP-connected services
  • Lead integration efforts with Databricks and enterprise data platforms
  • Implement and improve access control, security patterns, configuration management, and platform reliability
  • Build internal tooling, documentation, and reusable frameworks that improve the developer experience
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including infrastructure, security, data, and application engineering

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stays curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 2–5 years of experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, or developer platforms
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript
  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), APIs, microservices, system design, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and DevOps practices
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a collaborative engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise platform technologies or architectural patterns at scale
  • Hands-on experience with API gateways, service mesh (Istio/Envoy), Kafka, Vault, Consul, feature flags, or secrets management
  • Experience with AI infrastructure, agentic systems, MCP servers, or LLM platform support
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka, Databricks, data platforms, or integration frameworks
  • Experience building developer tooling, CLIs, or internal platform SDKs
  • Track record of modernizing legacy systems and building scalable platform foundations
  • Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) and SRE practices

Where You Belong

  • Culture of Collaboration: Partner with talented SAP engineers and mentors who will support your growth. Grow professionally through mentoring, coaching, and career development support.

What You’ll Gain

  • Ownership of critical platform components in a large-scale modernization effort
  • Deep expertise in enterprise-grade cloud and infrastructure engineering practices
  • Experience building shared platform capabilities used by multiple engineering teams
  • Understanding of how modern platforms are designed to support security, scale, reliability, and AI-native workloads
  • Career growth within a global technology leader
