About SAP Labs Network and SAP Labs Vietnam

SAP Labs Network is the global R&D setup where over 55,000 engineers around the world create, operate and support the most innovative enterprise solutions for SAP’s customers worldwide. SAP Labs Vietnam aims to become one of the key locations within the SAP Labs Network to support the engineering growth for SAP.

What you’ll build

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused leader to manage and grow our Ho Chi Minh City–based team. This role is first and foremost a leadership position for someone with a proven track record of successfully managing highly diverse, cross-functional teams composed of both deeply technical compliance engineers and legal/compliance specialists.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional organizational leader who understands how to unite individuals with very different backgrounds, perspectives, communication styles, and priorities into a cohesive, high-performing team. You must be highly skilled in conflict resolution, stakeholder management, team dynamics, coaching, and building trust across disciplines. Success in this role depends on your ability to create alignment, foster collaboration, and help teams work toward a shared vision and common objectives.

At the same time, this role provides the opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering, open-source governance, intellectual property management, AI compliance, and international trade compliance. A major focus of our organization is the development of Agentic and AI-driven solutions that help automate and scale compliance processes across SAP’s global engineering landscape.

As a leader, you will help your team continuously improve by defining growth paths, setting realistic goals, providing actionable feedback, and creating an environment where individuals with very different expertise areas can collaborate effectively and learn from one another. You will also partner with stakeholders across SAP to drive the evolution of compliance tools, systems, and processes that support innovation across the company.

We focus every day on building the foundation for tomorrow while creating a workplace that embraces differences, values flexibility, and supports continuous learning and growth. We offer a highly collaborative, caring environment with strong emphasis on mentorship, innovation, and individual development. Help us shape the future of compliance engineering at SAP.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a multidisciplinary team of compliance engineers and legal/compliance analysts in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Create a highly collaborative team culture that successfully bridges technical and non-technical disciplines.
  • Actively manage team dynamics, interpersonal challenges, and organizational conflicts with empathy, professionalism, and strong leadership judgment.
  • Build alignment across individuals with differing expertise, priorities, and communication styles to drive shared outcomes and organizational goals.
  • Recruit, retain, mentor, develop, and motivate employees while fostering a culture of accountability, trust, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide regular coaching, career development guidance, performance management, and actionable feedback to team members.
  • Ensure the ongoing communication of organizational strategy, objectives, priorities, and business context to the team.
  • Partner with stakeholders across SAP engineering, legal, security, procurement, and compliance organizations to continuously improve compliance tooling, services, and operational processes.
  • Stay current on technology and industry trends, particularly in areas such as AI-assisted development, Agentic systems, open-source software governance, software supply chain security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Play an active leadership role in the evolution of our internally developed applications, automation platforms, and compliance systems.
  • Help drive innovation and operational excellence across GTLC’s services and business processes.
  • Develop an understanding of relevant compliance domains including open-source licensing, export controls, intellectual property, AI governance, and data privacy. Deep expertise in all domains is not required at hire and can be developed within the role.

What you bring

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Law, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of people management experience, including leadership of multidisciplinary or cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success managing teams composed of individuals with substantially different skill sets, perspectives, and professional backgrounds.
  • Strong conflict resolution, communication, coaching, and organizational leadership capabilities.
  • Proven ability to build high-trust environments and foster strong collaboration between technical and non-technical professionals.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and leadership maturity.
  • Ability to align teams around common goals while navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, and organizational complexity.
  • Practical experience in software engineering, compliance operations, or technical program delivery across a variety of scenarios.
  • Proven track record of developing employees into higher levels of expertise, ownership, and leadership responsibility.
  • Strong personal initiative, curiosity, and willingness to continuously learn new technologies and compliance domains.
  • Experience creating environments of continuous learning, mentorship, and peer development.
  • Familiarity with modern software development environments and AI-driven technologies is strongly preferred.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in open-source governance, software licensing, vulnerability management, software supply chain security, or related compliance domains is highly desirable.
