We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you’ll build

As Executive Director, Government Affairs – Americas, you will drive operational and strategic priorities for the Head of Government Affairs, Americas and the Americas government relations team. You’ll help ensure the regional team operates with rigor and impact, and personally represent SAP before policymakers, regulators, and multilateral institutions across the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. This role demands an executive-level operator with deep experience managing complex institutional environments and building high-performing organizations who can drive SAP Americas Government Affairs priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the SAP Americas Government Affairs function operates with clarity, efficiency, and strategic alignment to SAP’s public sector and commercial goals.
  • Represent SAP directly before federal, state, provincial, and national government officials, regulatory agencies, embassies, and multilateral organizations across the U.S., Canada, and LAC.
  • Leverage government experience to advance SAP’s positioning in public sectors across the U.S., Canada and Latin America-Caribbean (LAC).
  • Coordinate development of the SAP Americas Government Affairs annual and multi-year strategic plans in partnership with SAP Americas Government Affairs team
  • Manage special projects and cross-regional initiatives in coordination with the SAP Global Government Affairs team
  • Prepare briefing materials, talking points, executive communications, board-level updates, and speeches for the Head of Government Affairs and other SAP executives engaging on public policy matters in the Americas.
  • Help identify and navigate policy, regulatory, and legislative dynamics affecting SAP’s ability to serve government customers, including cleared and classified environments.
  • Maximize SAP Americas Government Affairs relationships with trade associations, think tanks, and coalition partners
  • Coordinate monitoring and analysis of regional legislative, regulatory, and geopolitical developments.
  • Advocate SAP's positions on priority public policy issues
  • Support customer-facing government engagements and executive visits.

What you bring

  • 18+ years of progressive experience across government and/or private sector in roles requiring leadership, strategic planning, and organizational management.
  • Sophisticated understanding of U.S. government operations, including the Executive Branch, Congress, and intelligence community interplay in shaping policy and procurement, and government operations in Canada and Latin America-Caribbean.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing executive-level materials for senior government and corporate audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (JD, MPP, MBA, national security, or related) preferred.
  • Preferred: prior senior operational, strategic planning, or leadership role in government, a technology company, consultancy, or government affairs function; familiarity with SAP’s enterprise portfolio (cloud, ERP, AI).

Where you belong

The SAP Americas Government Affairs team engages government to shape the policy environment for SAP, its customers, and the technology ecosystem. Led by the Head of Government Affairs, Americas, the team consists of experienced policy professionals covering the U.S., Canada, and Latin America-Caribbean.
