Important information:
- This is a hybrid role based out of SAP's Vancouver office, working in-office with the team 3 days per week.
- Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization (e.g., LMIA or other immigration support).
- Employment Type: This is a temporary parental leave backfill contract position with a duration of up to 11 months. Compensation consists of an annual base salary only. This role is not eligible for an annual performance bonus, employee benefits, or SAP stock plans.
What You'll Build
The SAP Labs Canada team is looking for a well-versed, operationally minded communications leader to help shape how we connect, engage, and inspire employees across Canada. We are culture and community builders who believe meaningful communications and employee experiences play an important role in creating a thriving workplace.
The Senior Communications Manager will report to the Managing Director of SAP Labs Canada. They will lead strategic communications and executive communications. They will also manage employee involvement initiatives and event communications. These efforts will bring our brand, culture, and business priorities to life. This role serves as a trusted advisor to leaders, a strategic partner to SAP Labs Canada Operations and Events leads, and a people leader to the communications & events team, leading impactful employee experiences across our Canadian locations.
The role mainly focuses on internal communications. It also supports some external storytelling initiatives. This includes helping with executive social media, creating content for LinkedIn, and working with public relations teams. These efforts highlight SAP Labs Canada's contributions and achievements.
The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator and a relationship builder. They are also a skilled people leader. This person can easily switch between various tasks. These tasks include executive advisory work, employee engagement, event communications, content development, and team management.
They are comfortable influencing their peers. They coach and guide junior team members. They manage competing priorities and lead communication programs. These programs aim to strengthen culture, participation, and business outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Lead internal communications at SAP Labs Canada. Develop and execute strategies that support our business goals. These strategies will focus on employee involvement and building a robust culture.
- Act as a trusted communications advisor to the Managing Director and the leadership team. Support executive communications. Help with town halls, leadership visibility, organizational updates, and important business announcements.
- Manage the SAP Labs Canada communications calendar. Coordinate priorities with stakeholders and communication channels. Ensure employee experiences and events are organized. Keep teams aligned and on track.
- Lead communications planning and execution for employee events, including All Employee Meetings, leadership forums, executive visits, and other programs that drive bond and engagement.
- Create and manage content for employees. This includes newsletters, intranet content, presentations, digital signage, and executive messaging. Focus on storytelling. Connect SAP's broader strategy to the work being done in Labs Canada.
- Support external communications and employer branding initiatives. This includes assisting executives with their LinkedIn profiles, launching social media campaigns, and collaborating with SAP's communications and public relations teams. The goal is to showcase Labs Canada innovations, employee stories, and business achievements.
- Partner with leaders and stakeholders across the business to influence, align, and deliver communications strategies that drive engagement, strengthen culture, and support business outcomes.
- Coach and manage junior members of the Communications & Events team. Provide direction and feedback. Lead projects and ensure high-quality execution across multiple programs and deadlines.
What You Bring
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, employee engagement, or a related field.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Experience tailoring messages for different audiences and communication channels.
- Experience supporting executives through presentations, communications, town halls, or high-visibility employee events.
Proficient project management skills. Experience in managing communications calendars and balancing competing priorities with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success working across complex, matrixed organizations and influencing without direct authority.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or managing junior team members, interns, or early-career professionals.
- Comprehension of Quebec bilingual communication requirements and how they apply to employee communications.
- Comfort using AI-powered tools to improve productivity, streamline workflows, and support content development.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Canva, and internal communications platforms. Experience using social platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- Experience supporting distributed and hybrid workforces.
- Experience partnering with event teams to deliver integrated employee experience and communications strategies.
- Understand the bilingual communication needs in Quebec. Support communication strategies that engage employees across Canada. Internal translation services are available; French language skills are considered a strong asset.
- Experience building visual communication systems, employer branding assets, and employee engagement campaigns. Experience with Adobe and Figma are a strong asset.
- You should understand change management principles. You should also know how to support initiatives that transform the organization.
- Experience working within a global, matrixed organization.

SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted annual combined range for this position is 88800-191100CAD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
