We are seeking an accomplished Legal Department Manager to lead our Americas Employment Law team. This role is pivotal to ensuring proactive, strategic, and pragmatic legal advice across North America (Focus) and Latin America (oversee), supporting business objectives and employee relations with integrity and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of five experienced legal counsels plus one paralegal, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and excellence.
- Manage the provision of employment law advice across North America and Latin America, ensuring compliance with regional regulations and company policies, including oversight of external counsel, to all internal corporate functions.
- Oversee complex employment litigation, investigations, and dispute resolution matters, as well as benefits-related legal support and policy matters, working closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel as needed.
- Develop and implement departmental strategies to address changing legal landscapes, risk management, best practices in employment law across diverse jurisdictions as well as provide support for the development of new or revision of existing company policies.
- Provide clear, actionable guidance to senior management on employment law topics, executive matters, benefits, workforce policies, and employee relations.
- Facilitate training and education for business units on relevant employment law developments and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in employment law, primarily in a large international company.
- Track record of successful leadership, demonstrating the ability to inspire and guide teams in a fast-paced and multicultural setting.
- Extensive knowledge of employment law frameworks and practical issues in North America and Latin America.
- Proven experience managing complex cross-border legal matters and providing strategic counsel to senior leadership.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize practical legal solutions and keen business acumen preferred.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is highly desirable.
- Experience in the technology and/or software industry is strongly preferred.
- Affinity for AI and emerging technologies, with an interest in applying innovative tools to improve legal service delivery.
- Ability to travel as necessary within the Americas region.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted annual combined range for this position is 273700-596600USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
