ABOUT THE ROLE

The Product & Technology Services Category Team is part of the Global Procurement Organization and provides excellent business partnering to our internal and external stakeholders. The category is responsible for the definition and execution of global procurement strategies and the respective governance model in close collaboration with the different SAP board areas and drives effective stakeholder- and supplier management across the globe. In this regard the category is overall accountable for all sourcing activities related to Product & Technology Services, such as Application Consulting, Application Development, Testing, Application Maintenance, and IT Infrastructure Services for SAP’s internal demand, managing 1bn EUR of annual spend.

We are seeking a Category Manager with an extensive procurement background and with strong focus on internal business partnerships and excellent supplier management. The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in service procurement and must be an innovative, energetic and a dynamic self-starter, who is able to deliver exceptional results.

The Category Manager for Product & Technology Services reports to the Head of Procurement Product & Technology Services and will drive the development and execution of dedicated category strategies. Besides procurement-related tasks she / he will be responsible for Stakeholder Management including Demand Management and act as procurement leader & trusted business partner for all LoB representatives. This includes the monitoring of market trends and continuous alignment on business requirements to ensure, that the procurement strategy fits SAP’s demands.

An integral part of the job will be the coordination and execution of key strategic sourcing initiatives as well as professional supplier relationship management.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Act as consultant and trusted business value enabler for key stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder management: Proactively identify, engage, and align key business and IT stakeholders; manage expectations, decision paths, and communications to ensure timely buy-in, fast issue resolution, and sustained sponsorship.
  • Spend transformation to enable AI readiness: Drive the transition from T&M engagements to outcome-based service models, improving cost transparency, predictability, and value realization while creating the commercial and operational foundation to make the business AI-ready.
  • Conduct strategic planning (demand & spend management) + Driving commercial/contractual negotiations.
  • Create, implement, further develop and maintain category strategy.
  • Responsible for supplier management and sourcing strategies as well as strategic sourcing events.
  • Perform market analyses / benchmarking and explore market capabilities to gain market intelligence.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • University degree preferably in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Understanding of end to end procurement and sourcing strategies.
  • Open-minded and willing to drive change.
  • Knowledge of purchasing systems (e.g. SAP Ariba and SAP Fieldglass), MS office applications and purchasing processes.
  • Fluent English (spoken, written).
  • Ability to work in international teams and virtual environment.
  • Solid stakeholder- and supplier management and excellent communication and negotiation skills, strategic thinking.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of the methodologies applied and utilized in application development and consulting is of advantage.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years’ experience in procurement and category management within a multinational business.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, to define business requirements and to translate them into actionable procurement activity.
  • Ability to establish clear priorities and effectively manage multiple demand and time resources.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced complex environment, ideally from a Services Technologies background.
