Job Description

Job Description

Job Title: Logistics Operations Manager

Location: Bristol

Working Pattern: Full Time/Hybrid - 4 days a week on site

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Logistics Operations Manager to join our team in Bristol, supporting our Defence business and wider Rolls-Royce operations. You will lead a team of Shipping and Compliance Controllers, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant movement of parts and engines across our Original Equipment (OE) and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations.

In this key leadership role, you will oversee logistics performance, regulatory compliance and relationships with third-party logistics providers. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, you will drive continuous improvement, strengthen operational efficiency and develop team capability. If you are passionate about leading people, solving complex operational challenges and delivering positive change, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

The role involves approximately 10–15% travel to logistics providers and requires an on-site presence in Bristol four days per week, with one day working from home.

We want to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that have shaped our history continue into our future. We need people like you to join us on this journey. We provide an environment of caring and belonging where you can be yourself. An inclusive, innovative culture that invests in you, giving you access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career and make a difference.

What We Offer

We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits, including:

  • Bonus scheme
  • Employee support assistance
  • Employee discounts
  • Hybrid working arrangements
  • Career development programs

What You Will Be Doing

As a Logistics Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading logistics operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving operational performance across our Defence business. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing a team of Shipping and Compliance Controllers, ensuring effective resource planning, operational continuity and the timely delivery of parts and engines.
  • Championing a strong safety and compliance culture, overseeing export controls, aviation security, regulatory obligations and internal and external audits.
  • Managing third-party logistics providers, including warehousing and transportation contracts, to ensure service delivery, supplier performance and contractual commitments are met.
  • Overseeing logistics budgets and working with Finance, Commercial and Programme teams to manage costs, support financial planning and identify opportunities for savings.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to simplify shipping processes, reduce delivery times and enhance operational efficiency through digital tools and data analytics.
  • Collaborating with site leadership, Procurement, Quality and other stakeholders to resolve operational challenges, strengthen business relationships and support wider objectives.

Who We're Looking For

At Rolls-Royce, we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple, and make a difference. These principles guide us and are an essential part of our assessment process.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience in logistics, shipping, supply chain or operational management, with a track record of improving operational performance.
  • Experience leading and developing teams, managing competing priorities and delivering results in a challenging operational environment.
  • A good understanding of shipping processes, export controls and regulatory compliance, ideally within an engineering, manufacturing, aerospace or defence environment.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and external partners.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives, ideally using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies, with Green Belt accreditation being advantageous.
  • The ability to manage operational priorities and deliver against challenging deadlines. Experience using SAP, Power BI or similar systems would be beneficial.

We are an equal opportunities employer. We're committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives which are crucial to innovation and problem-solving.

We believe the more diverse perspectives we have, the more successful we'll be. By building a culture of caring and belonging, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.

We welcome applications from people with a refugee background.

You can learn more about our global Inclusion strategy at Our People | Rolls-Royce.

As part of our selection process, candidates in certain locations may be asked to complete an online assessment, which can include cognitive and behavioural aptitude testing relevant to the role. If required, full instructions for the next steps will be provided.
