Job Title: International Logistics Manager (Edgewing)

Location: Reading area. The role could be contracted to any BAE Systems site (preferably Warton) but on commencement will immediately be assigned to our Edgewing JV in the Reading area. A financial support package may be available to enable this assignment if required, dependent on certain criteria being met. There is a Hybrid Working Policy in place at Edgewing – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role.

Salary: £67,000+ DOE

Job Description:

You’ll establish and lead the organisation’s global logistics and international trade capability, developing the strategy, operating model, and partnerships needed to support international business operations. You’ll be responsible for creating efficient, compliant, and cost-effective logistics solutions, managing key 2PL, 4PL, and 5PL provider relationships, and ensuring the seamless movement of goods across global markets. Through continuous improvement and route optimisation, you’ll deliver scalable solutions that enhance operational resilience, support business growth, and meet evolving customer requirements worldwide.

Core duties:

  • Shape and deliver the organisation’s global logistics and international trade strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, operational priorities, and future growth plans.
  • Build and lead the Logistics & International Trade Solutions capability, establishing the operating model, governance, processes, and standards that enable efficient global operations.
  • Design and optimise a resilient global logistics network, identifying the most effective transportation routes, distribution strategies, and service models to balance cost, performance, risk, and customer requirements.
  • Develop and strengthen strategic partnerships with 2PL, 4PL, and 5PL providers, driving service excellence, contractual performance, and continuous value creation.
  • Oversee and safeguard the compliant movement of goods across international markets, ensuring customs, import/export, transportation, and trade requirements are effectively managed while minimising risk and maximising efficiency.

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience designing, implementing and optimising international logistics networks across multiple regions and transportation modes.
  • Validated ability to manage and influence logistics partners (2PL, 4PL and 5PL providers), driving performance, service excellence and value for money.
  • Ample understanding of global trade, customs, import/export regulations and compliance requirements within multi-faceted international environments.
  • Ability to analyse complex supply chain challenges and develop innovative solutions that optimise cost, efficiency, resilience and customer delivery performance.
  • Stakeholder Leadership & Influencing – Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead cross-functional initiatives and drive organisational change.
